*********************************************************
Many people who workout in the gym unknowingly develop a muscle imbalance in their shoulders over time. This is likely due to people's preference to workout muscles that they can immediately see in the mirror. These muscles can include your abs, biceps, and chest muscles.

This can eventually lead to problems though. Your Deltoid muscle at your shoulder has a front, middle, and rear part to it. Commonly, people's front delt is significantly more developed than the back portion. When this happens, one can get more rounded shoulders. This can cause poor posture and a potential shoulder injury eventually.

So what you want to do to even out this muscle imbalance is to also workout your rear delt. Actions of this part include shoulder extension, external rotation, and horizontal abduction of your arm.

Great exercises to workout your posterior deltoid include doing the reverse chest fly exercise, as well as face pulls. Both of these exercises will engage the back portion of your deltoid. By doing these exercises, your shoulders will also improve in their overall thickness and look more even.

most gym goers neglect what they can't see as you said jeff, and by doing so an over-development of the anterior chain muscles occur. And at best some rear delt/back training is performed half heartily. Great video Great advice

Simple explanation for a simple guy. All the big muscle guys just don't seem to understand and seem to go overboard while showing off their muscles. I don't really need big muscles, just healthy ones to help me to have less shoulder pain! (Torn R Cuff.)

Good video. My dominant right rear deltoid is weaker than my left (non dominant) rear delt. Is this out of the ordinary?

maybe you should start going in the gym and give us exercise tutorials. That would be really great. Especially exercises like deadlifts squats benchpress shoulder press etc.

another great video jeff!
I have a question whoch is really important. Im a ex-wrestler. I qiut, so i changed my traing program.

i am not so sure about the balamce between pecs and rhomboids/middle traps and also upper-lower traps.

#pecs
db press-inc. db. prss.-c. grip bench. p-low p. cable. cross.

#back
latpulldown/pullup-underhand lat p.-seated c. grip. low row-

#shoulder
db press.-lateral raise-facepull-external rotation-db shrug.

vertical push=2(if we count shrug)
vertical pull=2
horizontal push=4
horizaontal pull=2(but have lots of rhomboid active exercise like db shrug and underhand lat. pulldown, if we count them it makes 4)

kinda confused sir.
I hope you can help
best regards

do you have any advice on how to activate the chest muscle during my exercises? I'm 6'4 and have really long arms so it's hard to get my chest to activate in presses
