Only issue is when your upper back isn't as developed and the muscles aren't big enough to create that "shelf" 😅 so the bar still rolls forward on your vertebrae. Overall great advice for most people.

I use the pad because ive got arthritis in my vertebrae :) it still sits on top of my muscles, form is still fine. But sometimes you gotta do whats roght for you!

Hey there! Great advice. What worked for me was focusing on my form, controlling the weight and stop ego lifting and doing crazy intense drop sets past failure. It got better within a week.

Good tips but you never explain why using the pad is bad. I found that as a beginner the pad helped me since I had little to no muscle and it put too much pressure on my spine but also my shoulders.

So valid, I just tried squats and my shoulders and neck and back hurt, properly engaged my traps and held my shoulder blades tight and now I’m goated

Yeah i had the same problem, my neck hurt for a few days after that... seeing that picture with that guys neck all swollen makes my neck hurt just looking at it. Even with proper form, I think I will still use the pad lol

I use both. High bar for squats, low bar for good mornings.

There's nothing wrong with using a pad. Particularly with beginners or individuals with less back muscle tissue to cushion the bar.
