Every year studios announce new MMOs - flashy trailers filled with crazy graphics, incredible gameplay. You get excited, then spend the next decade waiting for them to release, only to end up ultimately disappointed. Either due to them being largely irrelevant by this point, or due to cancelations.
Which leaves us looking for MMOs to play now. And while there are no MMOs larger than World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy XIV on PC, neither of those games are free - with the price of living increasing across the globe, it's becoming more difficult to warrant active subscriptions or purchases of MMOs.
Thus we look to the free to play market - which might feel like the Dollar Store of the MMO scene, but there are some stand-out titles that are very much worth your time.

Star Wars The Old Republic is the perfect MMO for Star Wars fans and the story is a little into the future of the single player Knights of the Old Republic games. Revan's story is explored more in the first expansion and mentioned a bit in the base game. The game is fully voiced and our character actually talks. And personally I love how hilariously over the top edgy the Sith are. Imperial Agent is also pretty fun feeling like a Star Wars 007 with less romance, but you can romance a companion you like

Outside of Tower of Fantasy, which is clearly generic and anime af, this video could have been released in 2021, 2022, OR this year.

Was it really necessarily to mislead people in to thinking you were giving us a NEW list of MMOs worth considering?

You picked all of the safest options, and nearly every option you chose was something anyone that has done any research would have discovered on their own through biased advertising.

You couldn't have listed a hand full of NEW MMOs to try, or ones doing something different for your "best" list? You went with the standard fair amusement park trash that killed the genre as your recommendations???

Even a video admitting that the genre has nothing new this year, would have been greatly appreciated. This gets a thumbs down. No thanks for nothing.

Got to get back in Phantasy Star again, but don't have the time. Loved the universe of Phantasy Star for a long time. Really need more High Science Fantasy and Urban Fantasy MMOs.... You know minus the Gacha.

One VERY important note about GW2 is that it's a horizontal progress game where every zone scales. And because of this, it's the only game on the list where the entire game is relevant, and you're welcome to do content as you choose. Most of the other games listed are extremely tiny compared to GW2 just based on the fact that you have a very linear path, and then the vast majority of content is made irrelevant as you level, thus most of the game is worthless bloat. 😉

I am so tired of hearing about same mmorpgs in every "TOP MMORPG FOR YEAR 20XX". New mmorpgs are in development what seems to be for 20 years and never come out and if they do it is open beta with no intentions of actually becoming anything but a buggy mess. This is the state of mmorpgs. Time to become a mobile gamer and spend all my money on games where I dont even need to play because of autoplay.
