He is a prankster with his smile, yet he has a sweet love and knowledge for the Lord.

Sproul was spot on. Nero’s name adds up to 666 in Hebrew and John was asked to measure the temple in chapter 11: so it must have been written before 70AD.

I generally always concur with rc, but when it comes to eschatology, it seems to me was not his strongest suit. Holiness of God, and His attributes, sproul is the LEADER

Rev 13 hasn't happened especially 13:7-8 and 13:15 which is where the falling away, the apostasy occurs wholesale. And Rev 17 hasn't happened, the Catholic church hadn't had near enough time to complete her iniquities.

The problem logically for me is that the book itself doesn’t explicitly mention when it was written. Therefore, an interpretation which relies on the date of the text’s authorship can’t be held with any appropriate level of confidence, as the date of authorship cannot be established with any degree of certainty. A futurist view of revelation does not require any specific date of authorship. A partial Preterist one does.

John was supposed to have been 96 when he wrote it. That would make more sense if it was written in 90 AD. 60 AD seems to early. But i don't know.

Who r the two witnesses then I think we need to remember that our Lord gives revelation on things present and things to come .

I agree this is a strong possibility but I also think we need to guard against allow this to divide the body of believers. The body of believers should take the Great Commission to heart and focus on sharing the Gospel of Jesus with the world and stop getting sidetracked over what the future holds. We are in God’s hands, and that is great place to be.

Scholars, they can be a blessing, or they can be a hindrance. What's the filter then? Read Scripture for what it says and not necessarily for what an academic claims it says. The best teacher in life to understand the Word of GOD is the Holy Spirit. We should consider Scholars and their work, however they should only be able to convince the Saint if all of Scripture aligns harmoniously with the views they put forward, which isn't always the case.

I am laughing. This is where people, that have a Covenant hermeneutic, need Revelation place the date of the book to fit into their allegorical view of Revelation. We will all find out in time and let it not be a decisive issue.

The timeline fits the 60's, because we know who wrote it, and his situation at the time of writing is documented. However, he also lived an amazingly long life despite his persecution, complicating the discusstion.
