R.C. Sproul’s Final Sermon: A Great Salvation

Dr. R.C. Sproul (1939—2017) preached his final sermon on November 26, 2017, at Saint Andrew’s Chapel in Sanford, Florida. The title of the sermon was “A Great Salvation” from Hebrews 2:1-4. He concluded that sermon with these words: “I pray with all my heart that God will awaken each one of us today to the sweetness, the loveliness, the glory of the gospel declared by Christ.”

I've been a Christian for 60 yrs. and you'd think I'd have a pretty tight handle on how to live this Christian life by now, but having listened to this preaching by R.C. I'm convicted about taking the precious gift of salvation for granted and losing the respect and "awe" of God. God IS NOT our "buddy", as some would have us believe. He's GOD ALMIGHTY, master of all, and thank God, my Lord and my King. I just love R.C. and I thank God for him. So thankful I can continue to hear his powerful, spirit filled, convicting yet comforting and timely preaching's.

25 years ago i was saved. I learned of RC Sproul whom i admired because of the wisdom that came out of this teacher. He was different than other preachers. His intelligence was more than to other preachers i would hear. Now, at 53, i am looking at his teachings more closely. I am so grateful we can enjoy this teaching in this format. It may not last.

When I became a Christian in 1998, I started listening to R.C.'s radio broadcast on a local station. I had also been listening to other radio ministries which I could, as a newbee Christian, follow and somewhat understand. However, when I listened to R.C., I was perplexed. I knew I was hearing something special, deep with meaning, and inspired by the holy spirit, unfortunately I found myself lost and unable to follow R.C.'s deep expositions. Yet, rather than feeling frustrated or giving up, I was more than ever motivated to persevere until I could feel I could understand R.C. and his teachings. I have since been more blessed by R.C. in my understanding on God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Undeserving Blessing of my Salvation. My mind cannot still grasp how God would even fancy a passing glance at a lowly creature such as I. But He did, and by His Grace have been saved. Thank you Lord for using R.C. as the vehicle to achieve your Will.

After receiving Jesus and accepting Him as my personal Saviour, the messages of R.C. Sproul and Renewing Your Mind was vital in my reading and understanding of Scripture. His teachings were the foundation a new believer in Jesus Christ in reforming my mind. He will be missed here, but he is with Jesus, Amen.

R.C. was certainly one of the greatest if not the greatest preacher who has ever lived. I lean toward the greatest preacher. R.C. knew his redeemer lives.

A well educated man. He did not apologize for using a high use of the language. It at once causes the unlearned to research and understand deeper meanings. It turns others away for seeking the simplicity of the gospel. But this last message is clean and powerful. He preaches a proper balance of hell and death, heaven and salvation. An incredible message for all of us in the Church, the Body of Christ. Jesus Christ, I believe, received R C into glory.
