How to Stop Punishing Yourself & Start Living Your Life Again: Episode 1

• When most people are defeated, it’s not life that does it. They do it to themselves.

• When most people are “held back,” it’s not life or circumstances that are holding them back. They’re doing it to themselves.

• And when people feel imprisoned, they’re imprisoning themselves.

• And when people feel guilty, they punish themselves.

The problem is that their self-punishment never fits their crime!

And their self-created prison is a doorless one—they could leave it at any time, but they don’t.

While their life goes by, there’s an endless conversation going on in their heads:

• They’re talking themselves out of trying.
• They’re talking themselves out of believing.
• They’re talking themselves out of being happy.
• They’re talking themselves out of anything that they know would improve their lives.

How could they do such a thing to themselves? Well, they need some kind of “justification.” They need a valid reason for judging themselves, and believe me, they’ll find it!

But since they’re basically good people, there’s really not much to judge themselves about, so they end up making major issues out of minor ones to justify holding themselves back. In other words, they might slack off on their commitments, but they treat themselves as if they committed a crime!

• You THINK you’re doing a good thing by holding yourself back.
• You THINK you’re doing a good thing by punishing yourself.
• You THINK you’re doing a good thing by limiting your life.

You’re NOT. Here’s why:

• Your friends and family need you to be your best you.
• Being your best you means maximizing your life.
• You’ll enrich more lives when you’re happy.
• You’ll heal your past when you develop yourself.

It’s in the best interest of yourself, your loved ones, and the world, for you to maximize your life regardless of what you’ve done or what’s been done to you.

Thank you so much for these videos! They have really changed my outlook on life. I recently left an abusive relationship that I was trapped in for 8 months. He started beating me pretty much every day from about a month into the relationship on. He was an alcoholic and he had bipolar disorder which he refused to take meds for. The Sunday before last was the last straw for me when he got blackout drunk and Drug me from one end of the yard to the other. He punched me in the head and choked me. Finally I put my foot down and said that's it no more. We were talking about taking space and thinking about things so he could think about his life choices but as I sat back and thought about it I said to myself no it's just going to be more of the same if you go back to him so I ended the relationship for good by telling him that I was done and did not want to work on the relationship anymore. Of course he responded angrily but I was expecting that. He called me all sorts of names and that just served to remind me that he was not going to change. Everytime I get weak and think about wanting to try to reach out to him I just remember how he treated me. I saw your video on love is More Than A Feeling and when you said the part about saying you love someone and then abusing them that's not love. I'm now convinced that he never loved me and was just using me for money and sex. I will NEVER give him the opportunity to hurt me again and watching your series has strengthened my resolve to stay away from him. Well anyway, thanks so much for these videos! Metal up! 🤘
