The American Dream Was ALWAYS AN ILLUSION & Here’s Why

The Unattainable American Dream Is Broken and in this video I will be exposing just how. looking at the history of its berth, it is easy to see that it was sort of a lie to begin with. There has always been a sort of myth about it, especially with how elusive it really is for MOST individuals. If one were to ask a highly successful person if it is indeed exists the likely answer is to be yes, it's still alive, or yes, it is not dead or over. The lens in which they see things is different from one on the bottom struggling and doing every single thing they can. For them this "dream" just becomes more and more not real. In my opinion, to even have this mindset from the early 1900's in a modern society that has changed so much, is just irresponsible and selfish.

Yes, I get it guys, “…a dream because you have to be asleep…“- George Carlin
But there’s more to the conversation than slick statements. That’s what the video is for. 👍🏾

Wow Christopher, I can't be more thankful that I've come across your video. We also moved to Germany (about a year and a half ago), and as I've spent more time here, I've been struggling putting into words my disappointment and dissatisfaction with the American mindset. You've done it flawlessly! I can't agree more with everything you've said, and to think that I had to move halfway across the world to get rid of the brainwashing American's undergo makes me worried for others who won't get this opportunity. Thank you!

To me the american dream looks always like living at the expense of something or someone.

I truly believe if not for my time in the service, I would not have been able to fully embrace a simpler way of life. The things that I have are mostly for necessity as they allow me to have less stress. Less stress and simplicity make me happy. My dream is to have freedom of movement so I can experience as much our world as possible. I am slowly realising this. 😊🇩🇪🚚

One of my first comments on your channel was s/th like "What did you achieve when you've been working 12 hours a day and made lots of money, but never seen your kids grow up"
The american dream isn't american anymore.

I know what you mean by "outside looking in." My beliefs and opinions changed so much, even in the years I was still in the Army in Germany. After almost 24 years as an American in Germany I often find the egotistical belief that American is the greatest country in the world laughable. Don't get me wrong I love the U.S. but in every measurable way it hasn't been the "Greatest" in a long time. When our Grandparents and Great Grandparents were our age I think it was. At least it was the land of the greatest opportunity for a certain class(race) of people. I love watching your videos. It so often confirms my opinions and observations as an Expat.

Love this format! It's so motivating to see others who see things in a similar perspective as me. I don't know when it happened but I did wake up one day and realize that the "American Dream" can be redefined and personalized for myself. It doesn't mean we all have to follow the same path or strive for the same goals. Let's follow our own bliss!

Damn good video Chris!!! The controlling machine works hard to keep the "Dream" alive and I have come across plenty of Germans that even believe in it! But it is exactly that, a Dream. But one that relies too heavily on outside factors. So your point is spot on!!

A very good and thought provoking video. I think the idea of The American Dream is being squashed due to big pharma, big agriculture and big business. The U.S. was known as "the land of opportunity" at one time. That works into the American Dream ideology that is still believed by many immigrants but not so much by American citizens. This idea is still what prevails throughout the world, even though it isn't believed by most U.S. citizens. I believe or wish to believe that it was meant for all races, all religions and both genders (now all genders) ideally. Again, it was a vision for what America was supposed to be and what it COULD be in the future. It seems that fewer people believe or even know of their own American Dream due to the pressures of those factors said at the beginning and this new overly undue sense of entitlement. In my opinion, I think that people choosing to chase their own dreams IS THEIR American Dream. Ok, my brain is hurting from so much thinking. lol Can't wait for your next video.

In my outside view as German I feel the American Dream is just possibility. But that also makes it possible for everyone (more or less) to become homeless on the streets. Perfectly chaotic.

That was a very good way of encouraging your fellow brothers and Sisters to break free from the chains that are called expectations and conformity .
Many live what they think should be the Ideal way of living instead of living every Moment to the fullest.

Ty Sir for speaking out the truth and maybe some ppl may lift the fog that is covering their eyes and hearts .

Have a good Day

"There is no such thing as a self-made man. We are made up of thousands of others. Every one who has ever done a kind deed for us, or spoken one word of encouragement to us, has entered into the make-up of our character and of our thoughts, as well as our success." - George Matthew Adams

Too many people don't realize how much a role pure 'chance' plays in everything, how much of what we can achieve is possible or limited by things we can't influence. Every success stands on the corpses of other peoples failed attempts to gain the same success. And its not because the others worked less hard, were less invested or took less risks... they might have worked even harder, more invested and took much larger risks, maybe because they had to start from a less optimal position, maybe because they just were actually better. It's because they were less lucky. And being lucky doesn't mean the recipe for success falling out of the sky into your lap, it means all the things that happened on your path to your success not blocking your way for good.

And thats why social policy is so important, why it is right to tax the rich and help the poor ... because you can't distribute fortune, but you can distribute fortune.

you are a very smart person! I wish you all the best in my country. Times are getting harder, here and anywhere, but there is still a good chance to fulfill your dreams in germany. To be smart is the most effectiv skill to do so ;-)

Hello Christopher, I think you have personally made an important step and I think it is great if you help your Followers to wake up. I notice that many people - at least here in Europe - want to be saved and in exchange for this protection program increasingly want to hand over responsibility to others. As soon as "mistakes" occur and the hoped-for feeling of well-being fails to materialize, culprits are sought and punished. Living one's own dream also means taking responsibility for one's own actions. This is how you grow up, and it hurts and brings difficulties with it.
An example of this full-service mentality? There was a bus with tourists going to a war zone in Syria or Libya a few years ago to take photos. The idea alone is incredible. Photo safari to war. Do they have a pedestrian airbag? They were captured by an armed group. There were dramatic cries for help and an appeal for the special forces of the Bundeswehr to free the hostages. How stupid do you have to be? There were also success stories in several of my wife's women's magazines of start-up entrepreneurs living out their lifelong dream with a wool store or similar on Mallorca. Success? Sure, at 30 degrees I knit myself sweaters! That with gem earn money runs then like "cut bread" (a german phrase)... a self runner. These are just a few stories that run in the wrong direction. I don't have to tell you this, you're doing fine. I'm writing it here because otherwise the message "do your thing" only creates other problems if "you" don't also face the responsibility. Many become a coach but can't make a living from it. A wool store on Mallorca or the store with the Bathik designer socks in Spain is possibly a self-realization project, but is it a sustainable life concept? Only if you have a partner with money at your side or you have enough assets yourself. You can do everything, if you are ready to bear the consequences. So make "yourself" smart before, if "you" can do it. It's only fair to tell people that, because unfortunately many don't want to see it. Otherwise, many continue to dream, but it turns into a nightmare.
