In film school we had an entire class dedicated to the perfection of this movie. Not a single scene wasted, not a single shot wasted. Everything shown and heard progresses the story in some way.

I was 20 years old in 1985 when the Back To The Future trilogy started. I have seen all three films countless times and I never get tired of them. One of the greatest film trilogies ever made.

I've often heard people question why Marty's parents don't recognise him at the end of the movie or wonder why he looks so much like Calvin but I challenge anyone to remember the facial features of someone you knew for only one week 30 years ago.

The music, the storyline, the actors, everything is perfect in this trilogy. Well at least to people who grew up with them.

This is a movie you don’t remake. It’s a masterpiece.

How's this for a coincidence? When I received the notification on my phone that Oliver had uploaded this video, I was at the grocery store and 'The Power of Love' by Huey Lewis was playing.

I LOVE the ending when Jennifer asks Marty if he's alright and he looks at his now happy parents, "everything is great." It really hits home for me as my parents divorced when I was 9 and my desire for a happy family life that I never had.

"Back To The Future" is absolutely flawless. The script is perfect. And when I say perfect I mean PERFECT. If you study screenwriting or read some notable books on the subject you'll quickly notice that "Back To The Future"s structure is masterful. The film is one of those rare cases where everything works and fits beautifully. Zemeckis, Silvestri, Christopher Lloyd, Michael J. Fox and Thomas Wilson. The killer team. Definitely one of the greatest films of the 80s and of all time.

Great work once again Oliver. I was very curious to hear your opinion on this film. When you uploaded your preview I was very excited. I was already very familiar with the history of the film but it was a delight to watch anyway. Definitely one of your reviews I'll go back to again and again.

I can still remember going to see this back in'85. The theater where I saw the film was torn down around 10 years later. However, I still have the memories. Thanks for bringing me back Mr.H!

If Hollywood decides BTTF needs a "reboot", I hope they also expect it to make a heavy loss because nobody wants it, nobody needs it and there is nothing about the original that can be improved with copious CGI, over the top "action" or the incessant injection of identity politics that has ruined other classics.

The recent TellTale game will be discussed when I review Part 2 later this year.

Spaceman from Pluto? Just the fact that anyone in power would suggest that shows the incompetence of Hollywood.

This film is an absolute masterclass in smart, talented film plotting. Everything is set up clearly and cleanly. Every character, even minor ones, are used well and clearly-defined. And it's all done in a such a fun, creative way nothing feels like exposition or condescending. It trusts the audience to keep up with its peppy pacing.

I hope this movie never gets remade. It's one of the only trilogies left that hasn't had a horrible 4th movie tacked on.

This is probably the only trilogy that I ever watched where all three films were as equally good to one another. I couldn't chose a favorite out of either one if someone asked me.

Fascinating stuff, Oliver, great job! On a sidenote, one of my favourite moments of BTTF is the look Doc gives Marty when they first meet up at the mall and the way he says "Marty!". That one look and word hint at the great friendship those two must've had.

I couldn't tell you how many times I've watched this movie.  The VHS tape we had it recorded on actually turned BLUE after a while.  When have you ever seen that?!  Every time this movie gets a theatrical re-release I'm there.  Three times in the theatre, and I hope for many, many more!  This was a fantastic retrospective, and well worth the wait.  This is the absolute favorite film of one of my friends, and I will be sharing this with him shortly.  He's met Chris Lloyd at a 35MM screening five years ago, went out to California for a full-on BTTF celebration, and so much more.  He's gonna love this!
