How to handle people who try to tell you how to live your life.. when you don’t listen they get mad!

I find you have to avoid people like this - I had someone telling me they wanted me to work for them a few times I politely declined- every time now they are getting more rude - raising voice etc

Marie! So good to see that you’ve uploaded a video. Great advice and so true. People like this need validation. I’ve come across a coworker who does this. She would buy little gifts to our team. For me, she purchased enhanced powder to add to water because SHE started doing that bc her individual goal is to drink more water. I thanked her but refused. The more she pushed, the more I stood my ground. I told her I already drink enough and have my own drops. She was so offended, she gave me the passive aggressive guilt trip with, “fine. I’m sure your skin will be fine with all the coffee you’re drinking.” I could’ve easily confronted that response but thought it was a waste of time, so kept distance. She offers help here and there but it’s a manipulative tactic to bring me back into her orbit.

My mom always try to tell me what to do and how to live my life but always sent me the wrong direction, she can’t even get her life straight, luckily I was able to see that and did what I thought was best for me because mom can really mess a persons life not just moms but narcissistic moms.

It is so easy for people to tell others what to do. At my mature age I learned not to share too much or get too personal unless it's a person I fully trust isn't going to give me unasked for advice. Sometimes we just want a listening ear and sometimes we can explain that ahead of time and say "thank you for listening and not judging or giving advice, I just needed to vent a little, I appreciate you" which can curtail unwanted advice. Other times I want advice and will ask "do you have any suggestions". As we develop we can figure out ways to navigate our conversations and nip things in the bud.

Marie, how do you keep a friendship with a friend who always lacks self esteem, has no confidence and is always depressed? I'm confident and happy and I don't want her to feel worse around me. But honestly sometimes I think it's better if I stay away from her? I've had this same problem with other women since forever. They're never happy with their lives, and think I have it all in comparison. It's really hard for me to be constantly lifting them up or dimming my own light because of them. Can you really keep friendships like these? She's a lovely person but it's drainning because I almost feel gulity for being myself around her. Maybe this can be an idea for a future vídeo? This is a hard one because sometimes giving unsolicted advice (I'm guilty of that) is actually coming from a good place, especially when you later on noticed that you also were right when they did the opposite thing & failed miserable. I never go back & say "told you so" in those moments but I noticed that people like to complain and vent, rarely they wanted to get advices.

Hi Marie! I love your videos and I am so happy to see you're uploading more often! I just want your insights on this situation that I am currently going through, if you don't mind 😊but if you do. It's fine! What does it mean when someone read your texts but wait the next day to respond, they always do this and I know they are not busy to the point not having time to respond. I like her a lot but she doesn't treat me as well as I treat her. I always look forward to talking to her but she only talk to me when she is in the "mood". She responds but not reach out. Sometimes we would talk a lot that is when she is in the "mood" for talking but then later that day she would be the opposite with dry texts and all that.

Hi, i have my close friend . He has been constantly pushing me away for the past month. When i confronted him, he said that this friendship is one-sided and am not good enough. And that our path met during college time and that after nearly 5 years, he thinks that we should oart ways because our lifestyle is different. Hey Marie...do you have any advice on when drunk people talk to you at a party and youre sober? I usually go alone to parties and for some reason drunk people love to come up to me and tell me about their life. Just because I am alone, doesn't mean I want to listen to you! How can I quickly leave the conversation without being rude?
