Remember Pascal GPUs, where the sole non-MAXQ variant was about 10% slower on average than its desktop equivalent?

Those were the days...

I did not realize there were 8, 8!!!, SKUs of a 2070.

This is unbelievable i always knew laptop GPUs were slower than their desktop counterparts but i thought it was a 10 to 20% difference but in some cases its up to 38% which is incredibly misleading i will definitely keep this in mind next time i buy a laptop

Removing the M name came from Pascal, where it did actually make sense. Guess NVIDIA didn't want to to go back to the M name admitting they couldn't match desktop performance again.

the most sensible option with laptop gpu is rtx 2060 if you want rtx 2070 you shouldve bought a gaming pc

Remember when laptop GPUs ended in M so we knew it was actually a low powered mobile part...

Looks like there's almost no reason to go above RTX 2060 on laptops and in most cases GTX 1660 Ti will be the most efficient option.

I feel like the Max Q name is super misleading. I with a 42% difference, you can‘t call it a 2070 anymore

8 variants for 1 product, dank
That happen cuz little competition

Man, notebook market is boring

nvidia's way of selling laptop gpu skus to ppl that are not to familiar with pcs. ''well the model name is the same..so the preformance sould match right? its just smaller form factor'' ..nopes.

I feel like the 10 series laptops were way, way closer to the desktops... watched a 1060 vs 1060mq vs 1060 desktop video Digital Foundry put out a few years ago the other day and the difference between them was very small compared to this mess with the 20/16 series.

It'd be interesting to see how the 5600M in Dell's G5 SE compares to this lineup.

I completely agree. I'm currently still running a 870M. The "M" would correct this issue entirely as it would distinguish the chip on performance charts. Because of my lifestyle, a laptop has been my choice because my entire household games on PC. But we all like being together. So when we game, we sit in the living room together. I've been trying to figure out a way to sit and game with a desktop in the living room and haven't seen much gear that caters to this setup... that can accommodate 3 or 4 people so I don't mean connecting to the TV. Swing arm monitor stands, etc. Thanks for the video.

i would have liked the 1650 included as well since it is more readily available on the lowest budget gaming laptops and a comparison for desktop owners who still have the 970/ 980 which, I believe is still pretty common.

I have an i7 10750h and an rtx 2060 at 115w, considering that I NEED a laptop and I got it for 1000 bucks, I'm glad with the proformance I have

I subbed after your TUF gaming laptop rebuttle but this video shows that you give zero F's about the industry BS and are giving the straight goods on what is out there. EPIC!!

3:30 at best, you know that laptops would fry an RTX 2070 with the same boost as a desktop version and hope that they lower the clock speed to lower the heat output.
I don't see any reason for them not to market a 2070 as a 2070. Maybe they should add (mobile) behind it, but if you buy a GPU for a laptop you know you're not getting the humongous cooler on top of ot
