Biggest issue is repair-ability. It's easy to swap parts or upgrade on a pc but not a laptop

99% times a PC is better than a laptop until you are playing nfs at last seat of the seminar hall with your friends.

Thats the type of dad where you don't say you need a GPU for homework, you just show the trailer of upcoming games.

Laptops typically have minimal upgrade support. Also, laptops are prone to overheating which will greatly affect your gaming perform.

There is also the fact that you can easily take it with you and can connect peripherals if you need a bigger display/keyboard/mouse. Turned my laptop into a towerless desktop at college and when i needed to go I just unplugged everything and went.

I want a laptop because of their screens and portability.
But building a pc is better for sure

lmao, W dad fs

if portability / lack of space is not an issue
then there is no way a laptop can defeat a PC in any conditions

Honestly can't wait till I can buy a pre-built of my own. Seeing your content has helped dramatically in knowing what fully building my own would entail, and is what led me to aiming at prebuilds.

Performance will only degrade if you don't maintain the cooling properly. A yearly cleanup and thermal compound replacement is more than enough

There is also the portability, and battery backup in a laptop that is not available in a desktop. That can be a deciding factor in some cases.

Reason I bought a gaming laptop is for it's mobility. I work demands me to travels from place to place and hanging out with my friend's house (reunion and hangouts) usually end up us playing on the PC. As long as it can run 60fps on any AAA Games I don't mind the price.

The most important IMO is that even if you get a prebuilt, do some reasearch so that it isn't using proprietary parts.

Because you could very reasonably be afraid of building a whole PC yourself, but you have to think of what will happen in a few years.
Your GPU will be too weak, and you'll want a new one. Then the CPU. Then a new SSD.

And before long, you have a complete PC on your hands that you fully built yourself.
Every investment since the first one (the pre-built) was better than a laptop.

The biggest issue is battery. Full stop. Even if its plugged in 100% of the time.. within a few years that battery will make your machine useless. Ask anyone whos owned one for several years.

I used gaming laptops from '09-'15 and I liked the mobility of them. One thing make sure you get one that has upgrade ability as some manufactures like to solder the CPU, GPU and RAM in.

I have a gaming laptop out of basically necessity. The only reason I got a laptop instead of building my own desktop is because I'm constantly moving back and forth from my mum's house to my dad's house every 3-5ish days, and anything that isn't a laptop world have been q huge annoyance to bring with me

Another good thing to remember is that if laptop gets F up it's MUCH harder to replace anything or find spare parts AND if you want to upgrade something you dont need to buy a whole laptop again but only the part you need

Another thing to always remember, you are trading upgradability for mobility.

Even if you go pre-builts these days (unless you buy one from a big company that uses proprietary parts) you have an upgradable system.

Outside of ram, and maybe the SSD... Laptops aren't going to give you the flexibility to upgrade parts down the line.

Therefore, you feel a little more pressure to buy a higher end one, so that you can get as many years as possible out of it.

Where the desktop you can always upgrade the the GPU or CPU and don't necessarily have to ball out right away.
