That's because normal paint fills the tiny gaps in-between the cooler but from what I could see the graphite wasn't well mixed with the liquid leading me to think that it's not thin enough to become uniform so what happened probably was introducing more air gaps, a better application is to buy these graphite pads which are indeed real thin graphite
