Race wasn't a big deal in the 80s/90s. We were all listening to each other's music, riding bikes, trading baseball cards. It was great.

As a white guy I had zero problems in mid 80s going in a community center in Memphis with a 90-1 black ratio and play basketball. It’s crazy how politicians on both side have divided us and gotten rich doing it

As a Gen X'er I explain our generation as follows:
01: We are the forgotten generation for a reason, most of us raised ourselves on the streets.
02: We choose to be nice not because we are nice, we are nice because we know just how nasty and evil we can be if we give into those feelings.
03: We live by a very simple code: Do onto other as you would have them do onto you, but do it first.
Basically we treat people how we want to be treated, if you don't reciprocate that respect and don't let us walk away, NOT EVEN GOD CAN HELP YOU.
04: We never forgive and we never forget, you are either a friend for life or an enemy for life, for your own well being, don't be an enemy.
05: We are old enough to be critical thinkers but young enough to still be able to learn all the new technologies, we are that perfect blend of dangerous that love to play with fire because we don't care if we get burnt, hell, we even expect it most times as we think it's fun.

That is why most Gen X'ers get along so well.

Gen X is the generation that had Public Service Announcements reminding parents that they even had children. This is a real PSA from the 80s;
"Its 10 o'clock do you know where your children are?"
I was born in 1970 I didn’t use a seatbelt until I was an adult. We rode in the back of an El Camino sitting on the side doing 75 mph down the freeway without a care in the world.

Us gen x didnt learn from our baby boomer parents. We listened to our golden era grandparents. The one's that fought ww2 and raised boomers.
My grandparents inspired me more than my parents.
Not sure if its the same for all gen x, but thats what made me.

Gen X here just turned 50 today go me! Born in Brooklyn, NY, man the stories I have? The things I've seen? The places I've been to at age eight on my bike? I'm Gen X, no one noticed, bothered me and I didn't bother them. We were so independent. And that's why I'm still here! This was a real one 💯 new sub!

Latch Key kid here from the 70s. Slept on the rear windowsill of my dad's sedan while he drove. Popping wheelies on our Big Wheels through the streets against traffic so I could see when to cross the street. Caught frogs in the creek, came home with ticks, got spanked coz I was disrespectful. We had to earn our trophies. A bunch of us didn't make it. But those that are alive today, we already know stuff google haven't told you yet.
