ERDL Green Dominant Camouflage Effectiveness

In this video we will look at the green dominant ERDL (Engineer Research and Development Laboratory) camouflage pattern. We will be testing this Camouflage in a heavily vegetated woodland environment during the spring time (North Texas woods). This video will consist of numerous scenes where each will begin with a concealed stationary position (both with & without the use of vegetation), followed by a movement phase out of the initial position. The purpose of the video is to give the viewer a chance to see the individual camouflage pattern and how it looks and blends into this environment. There will be varying degrees of how much of the uniform will be exposed to the viewer. Some scenes will only expose little more than perhaps a boonie hat, while other scenes have very little vegetation covering.

In case you guys are wondering, that rooster you hear is coming from a nearby V.C. occupied village.

I just picked a set of these up a few days ago at a WWII event vendor. I remember hearing good things about this pattern. Now I can see this stuff was definitely a great pattern. Thanks for sharing!

It seems like keeping still is the most effective camo

I believe this was an excellent pattern for its time. I still have my Dad's old ones from Vietnam. I wish someone would still make them because where I live it's green almost all year long. I know that we are in the 21st century and everything is going digital.

Hello Brent... you always do an excellent job on your Camouflage Effectiveness videos. Realistically speaking --- no one on youtube is as effective as the portrayals, comparisons, investing in the pattern clothing, and putting the boots on the ground making the time to do all this. Very well done! Thank you!

One of my favorite patterns. This and the Vietnam issue o.d. green uniforms are getting hard to find nowadays. I use to see these all the time when I was a kid. Not anymore. Great video Brent!

If it weren’t for the fact that I knew you were there and I was specifically looking for you I wouldn’t have seen you at all for a lot of these. That’s some very effective camo there.

Great job as always! A classic pattern that works well in heavily vegetated areas.

Looks more effective than the woodland we were all issued in the 80's and 90's too me. They got this one right.

Actually was issued a few sets in the late 90s for a deployment, and fell in love with the stuff. Works great in an jungle environment. And the blacks aren't so black that they give a noticable IR signature.

Almost 50 yr old pattern and still effective. Well done Gunny!  Looking forward to the brown dominant vid.

Best camouflage video on the internet.

The Vietnam era Marine issue stuff has the best color, it's ripstop material and far more green than what you see here, it's also ridiculously expensive and pretty much unavailable in any larger sizes anymore so buy it if you get the chance.

Great video. pattern is most effective if you are actually behind leaves and branches; however, in some cases I could spot you because you appear darker than the environment around you. Will work really good in dark or overcast days. Thanks for your hard work and service.

Got a set in 1979. Outgrew it some years later after discharged. Great pattern. Thanks for memory lane. Cold War Sgt
