May is graduation, recitals, focus on your surroundings outdoors because of the beautiful weather, mother's day (took my mom to Chinese) so May is not a book month for me. I did read some books Thrush Green/Gossip from Thrush Green, Agatha Christie Miss Marple Pocket Full of Rye, The Awakening by Kate Chopin, Arabella by Georgette Heyer and finished the first James Herriot All Creatures Great and Small. James Herriot was a few chapters here and there for a few months 😮. Your😊 hair looks great!

Hi Gina, I know exactly how you feel because I’ve been going through a similar feeling. We go through many transitions in life and in August I’ll be 73. I’m grateful but noticing my stamina is much less than even three years ago. I need to read more thrush green. I loved the Miss read fair acres series. Love this video. Aloha

I love having a reliable, comfortable series/author to go to. Mine has become Trollope. 😊

From what you were saying about that end of the world book, you might like this, it is from EM Forster (A Room With A View) he wrote a short story called The Machine Stops, it is really good, and it shocked me.

Summer reading! 🌞 🎉 It has been a weird, transitional month for me too. Old favourite reads are just the perfect antidote to feeling discombobulated. I love those Miss Read covers. The Manuscript book sounds great. A Woman of Substance! Omg I loved that mini-series so much and read the book some years ago as well. I’m thinking about summer reading plans at the moment but nothing firm as yet, aside from Jane Austen July of course!😊

I think it's hard to not feel out of sorts periodically. And the aging! Yes. Loved seeing your comfort reads and hope your vacation is fabulous as always.

I recently visited Shakespeare's birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon, which inspired me to read more of his plays, so my May/June to-read consists of: Othello, Hamlet, Macbeth, The Merchant of Venice

I read A Town Like Alice by Nevil Shute this month and loved it. I almost stopped reading it at the less than halfway point. The first half or so is hard reading about the plight of the women and the many deaths of women and children. But I kept on and am glad I did.

I like to read contemporary romance books. I am into reading sports romance books at the moment 🏀🏈🏒🥅. I am in the middle of reading Kiss And Don’t Tell by Meghan Quinn.

Glad to see you Gina. Agree with you about Thrush Green. The Hopkins Manuscript and Sally Brady's Italian Adventure are going on my TBR. My favorite book in May was House in the Cerulian Sea. I read Begin Again for May of the Moderns and really enjoyed it.

Hey Gina! I agree with feeling a little outa sorts. I know you will have a great sister vacation. I haven't come up with a summer TBR as of yet. Still just mood reading at the moment. Your lighter hair color fits you...looks nice. Thank goodness we have comfort reads to fall back on. 😊

Never call yourself "elderly" call yourself a mature, wise, woman. If you're feeling a bit "life slumpy" try some tryptophan rich food + carbs. I usually resort to banana sandwiches. Tryptophan naturally increases serotonin levels and helps to lift mood.
It's great to see you back.

I hate that blah state when you can't even settle on what to read. Happens to all of us, I think. I read Mrs Dalloway at the university and loved it then. I don't really remember much, but I seem to remember it as being very sensual in its descriptions and that's what I liked. I've been is such a mood for nonfiction, specifically biographies. Just finished "Pearl Buck in China, " which was fascinating and had me pull a Lisa See mystery off my shelf to get to when I'm done with my two other fiction books. Now, in the same biography vein, I'm starting "Agatha Christie: An Elusive Woman" by Lucy Worsley, and am enjoying it a lot as well. So my best laid plans (i.e. TBR) constantly shift. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm not in a Christie mood after this. Then I'm trying out our local in-person book club late this month with "The Japanese Lover." The two books I'm finishing are an Eva Ibbotson and "Heads You Lose" a golden age mystery by Christianna Brand. Beyond all that, who knows?
