My friend is from political family, in there family there are 16 members and they have 30 suvs, can you even imagine. The have tons and tons of money.
They have 30 to 50 karyakartas (members of party) for there building's protection with police protection.

The salaries of MLAs and Mps must reasonably high coz the first reason is they are the representatives of society, and Indian society is not a low class society to pay enough them, the second reason is it indirectly stops the corruption and make them more loyal towards the society, to serve them well. The biggest reason of corruption is less pay, and it leads their mind to create blunders and scams. As being a representative their duty is to serve society well, the same way Society is accountable to pay them enough.
