Im actually surprised this doesn't happen more often. The Columbia gorge is a force in its own right. I am so sorry for those that lost their family members. My heart break's for you.

I was with my dad on the columbia in Stevenson in a little aluminum boat when a storm rolled in. Big ol waves breaking over the boat, scary.

It takes EFFORT to flip a Northriver on calm water like that. That boat is capable of deep ocean trips as well as fast rivers. Curious if they left the anchor down or something. I don't think I could flip one if I tried

When incidents like this happen, often occupants are sometimes struck on the head by the gunwale as she rolls, often knocking the victim unconscious. Doesn't seem like seven on a boat that size would be a problem.
