No kidding. He literally learns how to be a good Dad, a good partner, a loyal friend, a crewmate, a great scientist, and a Doctor, once he's Matrix'ed the data into himself.
The only problem is his logical way of thinking had him kill himself as a solution. He may be capable, but he still has so much to learn that we learn growing up and take for granted.
