Thank you for this video. I use old area rugs for this purpose but a moving blanket would be much better since it is bigger and would be easier to shape and cut. I will be trying this.😊

My dad would use a black tarp. Hold it down with some rocks around the edges. You can clean/water it down, and reuse it.

Cardboard is a breeding ground for palmetto bugs and like two more species of roaches in my backyard in sunny South Florida. I learned my lesson after leaving for the winter and coming back in spring to fallen leaves and now it summer the leaves are still there and the roaches have taken over my backyard. I am terrified of roaches so the delay of racking the leaves pulling up the cardboard and treating the soil is yet to be completed.😢

I found your video because I'm researching for a way to create a smooth patch to lay down gazebo flooring. I only need 1 inch patch of dirt since I'm using the self install ikea tiles, and I picked a spot that has grass over it and need to remove the grass.

How long does the process take if I use this method? And after I pull up the moving material, there is no additional digging or removal needed? Your outcome picture seemed to have completely cleared it out. Is it really that easy?
