Does Roundup (Glyphosate) Kill Grass Permanently?

preview_player
Показать описание
Most lawn owners apply Round Up or some other product the uses glyphosate as it's active ingredient to kill grass but does it actually kill the grass off permanently or will grass regrow after application?

In this video I explain why glyphosate should kill a lawn off for good in one single application and why it usually requires multiple rounds over the course of a month or two to get a lasting kill.

Below are a few other videos I have produced on killing lawn spaces off better and/or more efficiently.

Glyphosate is super interesting. Most people think of it as liquid death for plants (or even for people 🙃). But not many people know it's actually and growth regulator. Used at the proper rate it can be a growth regulator for many types of grasses. There are also certain species of plants and trees that it stimulates growth at low application rate. It's really just the high application rate that makes it toxic, and the reason it really needs active growth for it to be effective.

I’ve been trying to get rid of grass in our gravel driveway, it seems like it just sucks the gravel into the ground . I’m in Michigan so by the time the grass gets growing, I’d spray and the weeds and grass would die back and you could see where the drive way was. By fall time it would be coming back but it slows down and then we get snow so I wouldn’t treat it . Repeat this a few years and it always comes back better the next year and now the grass has taken over my driveway . This makes so much sense now . I couldn’t figure out why I thought I was killing the grass there yet it is now better grass than my yard !

Thank you for creating this video! I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and plan to rip and replace my 40 year old KY31 tall fescue with a newer variety, I’m tired of those clumps! The lawn is very healthy thanks to all the YouTube lawn care content creators such as yourself, I’ve been following for five years. I’m especially glad you created this video, as I was wondering if a one time application would work on that root system, which I imagine is fairly deep and dense with all the deep water irrigation the past 10+ years, plus five years of consistent fertilization including bio-stems 😱 I can see that’s its not going to be a one and done situation, will be sure to get some rubber boots!

I have some paver next to a small grass lawn. I used glyphosate to kill weeds and grass in between the pavers, but the edge of the lawn closest to the pavers seems to be dying. What can I do?

I had a bit of residual in my backpack sprayer while applying 15L of water and fertilizer and patches of my lawn are scorched. Hope the grass recovers.

I live in Yakima WA. I'm doing a lawn reno this spring but want to kill off my KBG ASAP. I'm going to use Agfabric to help with germination once I plant seed. My questions is, can I use it to also help warm up the soil so my grass can uptake Glyphosate, maybe beginning of March? I want to get a jump start on the project.

I put 3” of regular gravel over grass and was told it would kill the grass. Well… it didn’t. Any suggestions? It’s coming up in patches and I don’t know whether to go chemical, add more gravel, lay down a base layer of fabric? I’m open to ideas, I messed up and took bad advice

Is glyphosate safe to use with appropriate PPE? So many rumors it’s been shown to increase risk for cancer

So fertilize your lawn before you kill it? Like ones last supper? Lol. My lawn dies on its own so I don't need to do this. Thank you Brian. Stay well my friend.

Vinegar is so much better for the environment. 10 percent acidity works very effectively.

in my humble opinion as a medical practitioner, it is the use of all these commercial chemicals that has increased the rate of cancer dramatically. I wish people would be aware of how we are hurting ourselves, animals and the world we will be giving to our children
