Stator & Clutch Cover Removal - GS550 Cafe Racer Build (Part 8)

The Urban Monk wrenches his way through some more tiny challenges as he further disassembles the engine on the GS550 cafe racer. Areas covered this episode include removal of the stator cover, kick starter lever, clutch cover, starter cover and documentation. Also a first use of water-based parts cleaner.

As with many other vintage motorcycle repair and maintenance videos, there is a lot of good how to information for anyone working on a vintage Japanese motorcycle, including Honda CB550, CB750, Kawasaki and Yamaha motorcycles.

This series is SO underrated.

I feel like I'm watching the Bob Ross of Motorcycles and learning about life.

Man, you are amazing! This series has been my saving grace! I bought a 82 650G a couple weeks back and am going to have to rebuild the bike from top to bottom with minimal mechanic knowledge other than 1 previous carb rebuild. It was a little daunting and tempting to junk the bike until I found your channel! Thank you so much! I’m now spending days on days in the garage learning and figuring out how things work while enjoying it enough to not go to bed at night. Thanks to you I believe I should have my bike running again. I appreciate how thorough you are with WHY you do thing the way you do as well as just explaining your thought process. You do a great job! I also appreciate the knowledge and wisdom shared along the way. So far my favorite went something along the lines of “ collect data wherever you can, with data you at least give yourself the opportunity for actionable knowledge and with that you can really do something” you’re a huge help and inspiration I can’t Thank you enough! Cheers from Utah!

Hello sir, thanks a lot for your videos! I've learned a lot. I've got a question, namely is there a video about how 2 remove the rotor? Thanks in advance for your answer.

Best Regards Wilfred
