Appreciate your content man I have been following you for 2 years now. Just sold my STI for a 16 F150. So I just wanted to throw you a big thanks for continuing your content. I was hoping this one would help however I have the Sync 3 in my 16 guess it was an option back then but I can’t get CarPlay for the life of me. Took me 3 hours last night to successfully update and it has a few new things but not CarPlay. So I have to keep on hunting for the solution.
But you certainly helped me and I don’t miss my Sti much since I got the truck surprisingly and very happy I made the jump.

I had Sync 3 in my 2018 F150 but I wanted one of those 12.1” screens. But like you, no way I could spend two grand on one. But I found a refurb unit on EBay for $280 and I put it in. I like it but I lost the Sync 3 features. I still have Apple Car Play. Cheap way to try something out.
I love your truck. Especially the Amber DRL Morimoto headlights!

I did an APIM and display swap, most functions work but I’ve noticed my equalizer always goes back too the middle after I adjust the sound, and no voice on CarPlay navigation.

I just love what you’ve done with your truck. I have a 16’ Lariat and i’ve done lots to it. I want that version of sync as it’s the next gen from mine but newer than your original one. I heard of a software called Cyan Labs that lets me do this without buying a new head unit so I’m going to give that a go.

Thanks for the very in-depth video. It gave me confidence to try it on my own explorer . After Christmas of course. My 2017 got totaled and had to go with a 2016. Only had car play for 6months but was almost ready to return this vehicle for lack of that feature mostly. Sounds ridiculous but I’m in my vehicle a lot and what a difference it makes. Thanks

Nice video! Also… when you connect to CarPlay is it Bluetooth? Or do you need to connect with you’re usb charger and then it will go to apply CarPlay?

Hey man, quick question- looking to get a F150 and wanted to get your opinion on what’s the better value? I’m looking at F150s from 2015-2017 and I basically see two options, either I get a good F150 for 25k or a Raptor for $35k ish . Wanted to get your thoughts whether the raptor was worth the extra $10k or not? Your F150 looks like a beauty so obviously getting the $25k and having $10k in mods is a viable option and I think potentially the better option in terms of performance & aesthetics but I may but downpaying the cost it takes to mod the F150. So yeah your opinion would be helpful! Thanks 🙏🏽

Is it worth paying the extra for the factory navigation? Everything I do is on google maps from my phone anyway and from what it sounds like the extra money for the nav is not necessary. What do you think?

hello, i have a question for you, you already had two usb ports, one AUX and one SD, did you need to replace them to make sync 3 work, or were the ones you already had fine? i ask you this question because i have a ford ka plus with sync 2 and i'm switching to sync 3, and my car already has an AUX and a USB port and i don't know if i need to change like you did with the two usb ports. what do you think?
