My advice - live your life and don’t listen to advise from people who lived in a different times.

You might as well give advice on how to retire in Mordor. Completely different world we live in now.

Make sure you never sell your home so you can hold on to as much resources such as material and land as possible turning yourself into a mini BlackRock.

Congratulations. You gave advice relavent to your time period to someone living in a different reality. Now she's going to be depressed when she realizes it is impossible.

6k per year Roth IRA limit, standard 5+% of your PRE tax income for 401k, house at least 2k per month mortgage before renovations, insurances, utilities, etc. Then you just need enough money left over to pay off you debts you took out to get there, car payments, student loans, etc. Easy if you are privileged but impossible if you arent

Hopefully this person chose a degree that will provide them with a profession that is in demand. If so the financial planning can be implemented. There are other things that are important also. Life is not always a bed of roses. If you have a good family stay close to them. Lend a helping hand to others when you can. Avoid unnecessary criticism and complaining. Refrain from toxic envy. Stand up for truth even when it is painful. Be grateful - yes even in the bad times. 😊

My advice would’ve been live at home for 3 years and save as much as you can. Once you have test saved up that will be a nice down payment.

Thats... damn, I wish I did that for my sister's recent grad.

Thats stupid. Advice is not a gift. You dont wait until college graduation to give life advice. Thats just waiting until the last moment to actually parent.

damn….now I just need a Time Machine to take me back to 2011 when all this was achievable on a single income 😂

The house part is unreachable for a lot of young folks.

I was blessed with my dad helping to pay for our current house.

The average house in my area starts at 450, 000$ for a f***ing starter house. 3 bed 1 bath 1100 sq ft.

There was dated fixer upper and they were selling it for 350, 000$. Home prices are crazy

this game plan was valid maybe 30 years ago, not in 2023

Lol don't you love how all these finance bros give renting out a house as advice? Like you can't ever get a bad tenant or have to deal with your unit being empty in between leases?
