In 2015 my dad bought a new tacoma. Since then we have gone back and forth with trash talk (mostly joking) about his little truck and how much of a sled it is. Since 2015 I have owned 1 gm, 2 ram and 1 ford full size pickup.. my dads tacoma has 95, 000mi and never seen a check engine light. The joke is on me.

One of the most versatile mid sized trucks ever built. Reliable, well made, easy to maintain, lots of aftermarket parts, really by 2023 it’s a rolling work of art…

This man reminds me all the time when my uncle would just sit us in front of his truck and tell us about them and what’s different, years later I’m a mechanic. Keep up the awesome videos.

A lot of the modern car features I can appreciate and understand why they changed but many changes like electric parking brake, electric lift gate, panoramic roof, big rims and low profile tires and many others. They keep trying to fix things that are not broken making the vehicle much more complicated and much much more expensive to maintain and repair!

I don't care about the 0 to 60, I just want a car with simplicity and reliability :)

Your videos are a blessing for people who just want the truth. I bought my 2023 taco this year, and I will be a patron of your videos for years to come. Thanks for doing what you do🤙🏼

My 2016 has 118K and as of now (knock on wood) still gives me zero problems. I love Yotas

Just bought a one year old 2023 Tacoma TRD off road, 16, 000 miles on it. Love it so far.

I went out and bought a 2022 SR utility package (no rear seats) 4 cylinder precisely because I wanted to get a taco before they changed it. I wanted simplicity and reliability above all else. I got 2022 because at that time we weren’t sure if the 2023 was going to be 4th gen.

Either way I’m sure the 2023 is more expensive given inflation so I’m happy I bought sooner than later. I switched from a 2000 impala so to me the 3rd gen is like a spaceship compared to the tech I was used to.

If you care about reliability get a new 3rd gen while you still can. Only time will tell if the 4th gen is going to be good.

This is the most comprehensive, well-informed, and honest reviews of any vehicle I've ever watched. This man very clearly knows his Toyotas. Thank you very much! After watching your video, I want the TRD Off-Road, but in the Solar Octane colour which I think is probably my favourite colour I've ever seen on any vehicle. I might consider wrapping or repainting the TRD Off-Road to match Solar Octane.

2015 with the 4.0.
Was absolutely one of the best years ever for Tacoma.

I think this is probably the nicest looking tacoma ever made. The solar whatever exclusive color is just so slick

I have a 2022 TRD Off Road and I have absolutely love it. Aside from some minor suspension differences it is almost identical to the Pro. I love the simplicity. It just simply works and works well. It is a truck where so many trucks today try so hard to be like a car. Total truck DNA. I plan to have this truck for a long time. Every vehicle has “common problems”. More technology typically means more things to go wrong and more cost to repair or replace. The Tacoma’s common issues are minor and very easy to deal with. Old school is best because it works. Great review. Thanks for reaffirming my decision. Love your videos. I watch every one.

Great review. I’ve been scratching my head about the ‘charm’ of a Tacoma and why it’s so popular. You’ve made it super clear and now I can appreciate this truck for what it represents.

I have a 2012 Tacoma TRD Sport with the 6-Speed Manual and it's perfect for me. It was maybe 3-4 years old, single owner when I bought it, and currently has about 90, 000 miles on the odo. No rust. Super simple. Fewer things to break.

I have had three Tacomas. 2005, 2019, and now a 2023. All have had the 2.7L 4 cylinder. I love them. I only pull a very small trailer occasionally so I don't have a problem with the lack of power. Even with a topper and a bed full of tools, I get 24 MPG. I guess since they are changing everything, I'll have to keep this one until I die.

The cruise control stock is what we miss the most on our newer Toyotas. The stock was so intuitive and you never had to look at it once you used it for a week. On my ‘21 rav4 trail, I still have to glance at it when making adjustments or turning on/off… miss the stock. The simplistic design was under rated!

Got a deposit down on a '23 TRD Off Road, picking it up in a couple months after it's built. I loved the look of the 3rd gen, and I hesitate to buy the first model of a new gen, especially with it being a completely new engine platform + turbos. I'll stick to the old school reliability of the old V6 and the last "old school" Tacoma. Can't wait to pick it up!
