AMD's reviews should be required viewing for anyone who wants to give an honest, well-balanced review of the products they're reviewing. While many auto reviewers, in particular, are so worried about offending the car manufacturers that their reviews end up being glorified infomercials, here's a guy who's not only reviewing a vehicle, but he also works for the company that made the vehicle yet that didn't stop him from highlighting whatever negatives that may exist in their product, which is commendable. And, guess what? That honesty makes people more inclined to get a Toyota, rather than the opposite, since most rational people would think if a shaky hood or a door that doesn't slam with a reassuring thunk are the worst things to expect from the vehicle, then that's certainly better than the horror stories we hear about other manufacturers' vehicles! Keep up the good work, AMD, and thanks!

This is the best RAV 4 review EVER MADE! I couldn’t find better video than this one in Internet: honest, informative and emotional. Thanks and huge respect for your dedication!

My friend didn’t want a Toyota because they were outdated I told him go test drive multiple cars then go test drive a 2022 Camry and he fell in love with the quality of the Camry and got the Camry and he test drove a accord, sonata, and A class. Toyotas they’re simple reliable and comfortable with just the right amount of needed technology. Sure they might be behind a few years but they have something that not many other manufacturers have and that’s reliability

I have the rear view camera and consider it the most important feature of the car. I am 70 and do not get dizzy looking at it. It not only shows who is directly behind you but shows cars in all the lanes behind you. The picture quality is fine and provides the most extensive amount of rear view information.

The rear view camera is incredibly useful. Here’s why. As a percussionist I regularly have to haul a lot of gear, and it almost always blocks the sight line for the rear view mirror. Anyone in a similar situation with cargo would welcome this feature.

I traded in my 2014 4Runner and bought a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid XSE. Absolutely love the vehicle. So simple and functional. I installed a hitch and have been able to tow a WaveRunner and a light trailer. And the best thing, 44.5 MPG!

Thanks for this update. You are right about "emotionally-driven" styling and options! From our first Toyota, a 1992 Camry, I felt the engineers were in charge instead of marketing. It works well, it lasts, it doesn't need expensive maintenance. 😊👍

I own a 21' RAV4 limited and I love this car. 15k miles, phenomenal gas mileage, comfortable sensible.

THE best RAV4 review out there, covering all the things that actually matter, and none of the things that don't :)

We just upgraded my wife’s RAV4 from a 2017 LE to a 2022 XLE. The only car she wanted was the RAV4. She wouldn’t even look at anything else. Everything mentioned here is true. If you take care of the simple maintenance the big issues don’t happen. It’s the perfect car because it does exactly what is advertised and is does it so well. It’s comfortable, functional, and reliable. No surprise that it continues to be the best selling SUV on the market. Thanks for such a great review.

After three years use of Toyota Hybrid, I found the less is much more. Success of Toyota is making honest vehicles. I find the same for AMD. The most skilled technician that I ever met. I'm really sorry that I can't meet you AMD personally and service my car at the best place. Thank you for all your suggestions during these years, you are the best!

We have a 2021 XLE Rav4. Bought it brand new. We love it but I will agree with the "cheapness" AMD mentioned. And even after the repair kit was installed for the outer mirror, it still vibrates at high speeds. But we still love it and it will be a long term ownership car. We especially love long road trips with our family of 4. It is a huge upgrade from the 2017 RAV4 we used to have.

I have a 2011 base rav4, 4WD, 111K miles on it. I live in Grand Forks ND, 72 miles north of Fargo ND where this car lived from brand new until I got it. I LOVE this thing!

Very accurate, true and well explained video. Non-bias approach and will benefit both manufacturers and consumers. Most car videos are marketing tools ie more subjective ( based on emotion or preference ) and not objective ( factual and non fictional information ). This is honest reporting or product review that benefits the consumers and guides the manufacturers to improve their products. Keep up the good work.

Hi AMD.

I like the way you explain things which I think can relate to various viewers. I have been a mechanic for for more than 30 years and have appreciated Toyotas engineering from the day I got my first car (1978 Corona - without the Holden engine). I own 2 RAV4s. A 2006 and the 2022 hybrid Edge. My Minister of Finance (wife) was kind enough to hand down the old RAV to me which I don’t mind as it’s still going strong after more than 200;000kms.

Other than the in-tank fuel filter it’s a breeze to maintain. I too was disappointed when I first heard the new hybrid had a CVT until I looked a little further. I’m more than happy to use Toyotas oils and filters while changing the engine oil every 7, 500 km (4600 miles) as I want this vehicle for a very long time. You’re my favourite technician on YouTube by a long way.. Thanks mate.

My 2006 Rav4 got totaled and we upgraded to a 2023 hybrid. We love a lot of the new features and we actually really like the styling. The reliability should also be much better than our 2006 which is known for a number of issues that we haven’t had major problems with, but we likely would have run into them soon. We didn’t trust used models of a similar vintage and used prices were ridiculous so we were kind of forced into a brand-new 2023 model.

The tech and gas milage is a huge upgrade, but that cheapness you’re describing is definitely there. The cargo cover feels super cheap compared to the 2006 Rav4, so much so we went with an aftermarket cover that is better quality.

One thing you didn’t touch on is the new one has significantly less storage space than the 2006. No under-seat storage in the rear, no under-cargo-floor storage in the back, no dual enclosed storage spaces in the center console or glove box. I used to be able to easily fit my bike in the back with one of the seats up, but the new one with it’s sloped rear-window barely had room for me to fit my bike in with both rear seats down. The lack of storage was a big surprise for me.
