I’m one of those new veggie gardener and oh how rewarding!! I started growing seeds last winter. Now, I’ve been making pasta sauces, salsas etc for the winter months. I have beans, cucumbers, peppers, eggplants etc. Did not buy lettuces for 5 months because I started them in late fall. The reward keeps on coming!!

Sprouting takes 3 to 5 days, I love my alfalfa and mung bean sprouts. I soak the seeds for at least 4 hours, pour onto my sprouting container (but a jar with a kitchen cloth over the top that is inverted to drain the water out works fine) and pour 2 cups of water over the sprouts every day and I can start eating them even after a day, then I harvest them when they fill the container. I also use the drained water to water other plants in the garden as it is nutrient rich. Love your videos, they are super helpful, full of great information and tips.

Hey from sunny Spain :)
Tip. When your leeks have finished growing, cut them at the base and leave the roots in the ground. They will grow back.
Same with onions if you put the sliced piece with the roots on back in the ground.

Timely advice! May I suggest adding bok choy to your list. Ready in about a month. Also it seeds abundantly on stalks you can wrap and catch so you'll never have to buy seed again.

Thank you so much for including tips for both southern and northern gardens! This has been very helpful. I've grown radishes with children, because they are so quick and easy to grow, but I never liked them, either. I love root vegetables roasted with olive oil, but never thought of trying that with radishes, so that was one big thing I learned from this video. Thanks!! The other was the idea of using arugula for pesto. Up here in Oregon, the arugula has pretty much naturalized in our raised bed, and it's gone from a coveted salad addition to something I'm (almost) tired of. The pesto idea can help us make use of this over-bountiful crop. Much appreciated.
