In this episode of the Editorial, Mr. Sujit Nair discusses the latest report by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, which flags ""increasing abuses"" against religious minorities in India. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has dismissed the report, accusing the USCIRF of promoting a ""motivated narrative."" Mr. Nair addresses the report and explores how the U.S., before addressing its own issues, comments on the internal matters of other countries.

Exactly sir, I have been saying this last 15 years. Not just today, I faced it from 2006 when I joined a company and people used to discriminate me for being a minority. Infact I belong to multi faith as my mother was a Hindu and my father a Christian. I didn’t know why I was kept aloof and not called for meetings and I was given tough work and no promotions and less hikes. Thankfully my parents taught me to be hardworking and I did all the work even though it was tough. Also I used to like challenging myself too. But those work what I used to do were taken away in the last moment and given to a uppper caste person and they got all the credit for work I did. This continued for almost 12 years and I lost job also 2 times in the process. Finally one day as I worked in Nancy I approached the us boss and told him all. He didn’t believe me 1st and later he did his own research and found out what I told him was true l. So he raised discretionary actions against my boss. But then my Indian boss with other supporters tried threatening me that they can screw me more. As a consequence I had to withdraw the case. Later I lost my job during reorg again. My Indian boss from his other same community contacts made sure I won’t get any job anywhere else in other companies also. I work in a rare skills domain where there are only few top companies are the players. I remained jobless for 2 yrs and I couldn’t get a job in India: finally I got abroad and working for last 6 years. I don’t want to ever come and work in India again. Even abroad few Indians in the team there were 2 members who started discriminating me and doing all sorts of things. It took me a year finally again to go to my management and tell what was happening. They both abpolised and I forgave them . One off them still contacts me sometimes and speaks and often says he is sorry for what he had done. Well I was very close with him and thought he was my good friend. He was scared when I went and complained but I didn’t mean to harm him and said they only stop this what I expect.

Hindus from India in America can be president in America and prime Minister in England and ministers in Europe. What about India!

The main difference between USA and India is that religious persecution is official in India. Racial inequity is societal in US. The transparency and freedom to air out the issues is very high in US. This is proved by the very reports you quote, which are critical of US. Where are such reports in India? The mainstream media in the US very vocal on these issues. The MEA as usual will keep deflecting rather than answering any questions. Local media is spineless in India under govt threat. That incidentally is also the press freedom index which places India in a low position. It's best to act on issues rather than shooting the messenger each time.

I am a Kerala Christian. But never faced any discrimination in Kerala. Then studied at Manipal. College provided 3 churches in the campus. I worked in in Aramco. Arabs respected indi people more than any other nationalities. I only faced discrimination from one UP brahmin and goan Christian.

Since hindutva elements are unable to do anything to muslims they are taking out their frustration on Christians. Particularly in BJP ruled states of North India Christians are being targeted by government agencies also.

Yes religious interolenceis there in India especially in BJP Modiji led government. Because he always gives hate speech about Muslims in his last lokasabha election And Election commission is very silent in this😩

This discrimination is happening to our own citizens in India. God knows what will happen to foreigners if at all they migrate. Which indeed is very rare. Thats the major difference.

As a South Indian who had lived in North India the msnner in which North Indians treat South Indians is very obviously racist.
