A long time ago, our house door had new neighbors...
But I couldn't meet or talk to them weeks or even after months because he was simply ignoring us... But after many months his wife approached us for a help and in doing so revealed the fact that her husband was district magistrate judge and therefore didn't like to indulge in any circles that might compromise his integrity towards the law and order... Now that I'm old enough I understand why that is important..

Integrity in this country is what is seriously lacking even at the highest levels.

Sadly whatever respect I had for CJ Chandrachud is now washed away

I was shocked when I read the news. The only hope-that is, the SC and the CJI, is now devastated.

Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah was a doyen of a chief justice who said that judges should be withdrawn when it comes to socializing. His reign was one of impeccable integrity.

May be CJI is looking for some Plumb posting post retirement. Shameful

CJI should have maintained separation of duties...so CJI should recuse from all hearings of Government related matters

Wonderful words...."good fences make good neighbours" and " not cordial but correct relationship."
One should not have invited. The other should not have gone.
Great editorial.

Good and well articulate editorial.
Performing private poja is strictly expressing faith and belief privately which does not require outsiders or intruders and media coverage. Very strange when institutional heads meeting, which will result in 'quid pro quo'. Ifthar party is not similar to performing private pooja rather it is a congregation of people other faith invited for a breaking the fast gathering.

You are right CJI DY Chandrachud is 100% aspiring for a post-retirement post as either a Rajya Sabha seat or as Indian Ambassador

This CJI has shown many times where his loyalties lie. Nothing shocking here.
