Keyboard and Mouse Stopped Working When USB Flash Drive Plugged In Windows 11 FIX [Tutorial]

Has charging stopped? Are you no longer able to use your mouse? If there's something wrong with your USB ports, there are several ways to narrow down and fix the problem.

The USB ports on your computer help you customize and control your PC experience. Need a mouse? A new keyboard? Just plug it in. This can make working and gaming on your computer a much more enjoyable experience—unless one of your USB ports malfunctions.

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Alienware, Razer, MSI, Huawei , Microsoft Surface, and Samsung.

Very complete video - thanks 👍
.
I had hoped that this "uncheck allow computer to save power" option would be a solution, but sadly not.
For me the problem occurs with two Type A USB ports on the right hand side of my ASUS laptop.
I have the receiver / transmitter for a Microsoft Mobile / Sculpt mouse in one of the ports, and when I connect a Lexar pen drive to the other USB port, the mouse still works but it is very erratic and jumpy - so pretty much unusable.
.
However, if I swap the USB devices around, everything works fine.
[i.e. pen drive in the bottom port gives no problems - pen drive in the top port gives problems]
So that was the solution for me - connect the same devices but to different ports.
Not a perfect solution, but an OK workaround I guess. I am aware that you do also suggest trying that at the end.
.
Also, it does appear that updating the drivers as suggested did help a little.

So, connect the culprit device - and then you can update the drivers for that device and it may help reduce the issue.
.
cheers!
