The Ronnie Rig has become the most popular Carp Fishing Rig that exists in modern day Carp Fishing. It’s easy and simple to tie so suits beginners and experts alike but also it catches carp plain and simple! I see a lot of pictures on social media of peoples attempts at Ronnie Rigs and whilst these will probably work, they can always be improved. Follow my 5 common mistakes and how to fix them and hopefully you can catch more carp with Ronnie Rigs!

Hi bud. To make better use a large korda kicker instead of shrink tube. That way when you need to change the hook you can just crush the barb and take everything off without having to tie a new boom section. Also saves you money on shrink tube because if you crush the barb when changing the hook the kicker and the bead doesn't become damaged when you take it off.

Simon new subscriber and returning to fishing. Trying to catch up on new techniques through YT. Just to say you made this so clear as a pose to so many I have watched. Thank you.

Hi Simon...another great mistake i commonly see is people make up his rig and put the slight curve in the shrink tube, as you have explained. then they attach the Boom section and store it on a rig board with the rig pulled tight. When you come to use the rig the curve in the shrink tube is pulled straight!!! i always make the hook section of the rig up, and always add the boom i require on the bank. I just cover the point of the hook with a small piece of foam andIi have loads of these hooks sections made up in a pot i carry in my tackle box

Great video on tip to improving the Ronnie/Spinner Rig favour a bottom bait or a SlipD Rig over a Ronnie Rig as it's widely used at the moment a bit like the Chod rig about 10 year's ago

Love your video. Love the multi Brands of tackle. Quick question, what weight of lead do you find the most effective? Keep the great videos coming and tight lines

Always been a skeptic of the ronnie due to it being a trendy rig and tried to be different and not use it but with your adaptations I think I may give it a go as the mechanics look solid now! Excellent video mate😁

Thanks for your helpful video, but i hope you will answer my. How often is the mouth of te carp damaged. I saw last time a fish whit 2 deep cuts and finally a good hooked position in the under lip . Is there Maby a mistake? Personally I don’t want to to see this happening when it’s not necessary

awsome video, thank you!! just a question, would you recommend using a solid PVA pag with this rig if so what sort of length do you make the rig?

I only use flexible material for the boom section if I’m fishing over a very uneven bottom as it won’t reset if it gets moved by feeding fish or bird life- I prefer a stiff material to reset when using a Ronnie. If you don’t feather it or fish to a clip it could lie badly - great info for new carp anglers👍

Simon is that braid all stripped off, or is it that supple. It looks like plain braid to my eyes? Thanks excellent.

Good insight mate! didn't really use a blob of putty in the middle of the boom section as I was using 25lbs coated braid but I will now! Topman tight lines 👍

I always snip off the pointy end of the swivel with a pair of snips. The tubing will always keep the hook on. The rig is is more streamline.

Hi Simon, great video. Im just thinking, could the rig be further improve by using a loop into the swivel, and also use foam on the hook to make sure the line lays nicely away from the lead.

I know this is an old(er) video so might be too late for a reply.... But can you see any problems using a bait screw instead of floss on a micro swivel?
Cheers
