Since the rise of beefy GPUs, sagging has become a bit of an issue. In this video I describe why this is something you shouldn't worry too much about. However if you are interested in giving support to your video card, I will show you how.

Buddha: “That f*cking coil whine is driving me mad!”

My old Coolermaster HAF-X already had a GPU sag bracket that came with it way back in the day, and I still use the case to this day. The bracket has its own slot for thumb screws in the back of the case. Talking about being old fashioned... me using such an old case still. 🤷‍♂

"GPU sag will not break your GPU" Unfortunately a claim that aged like spoiled milk, still very solid advice otherwise. Fudging 4000s GPUs, specially 1.0 revision Gigabyte GPUs, so many repair shops dealing with cracks due to design blunders with only 2 points of contact.

GPU sag is not just aesthetics. I can't get my tower to POST without supporting it. As GPU's get heavier more peopleare going to have issues. At some point tracks on the motherboard are going to suffer irreversible damage.

I used the McGyver method; took a thin wood dowel, cut to proper size and used white vinyl tape to wrap it. Matches the cable sleeves & build.

Turn your case on it’s side. Problem solved.

Space and aesthetic considerations do apply, void where prohibited, not to be taken as legal financial or medical advice, or even advice.

When I looked at the thumbnail I thought the buddha was raising his arms to lift something. But covering the ears is also very thematic.

Wrong! I get these cards with cracked memory chip pads that are close to the PCI-e slot here in for repair frequently. All this is due to GPU sag, because of the stress in that area. GPU sag can also cause your GPU core to be put under physical stress and result in cracked joints. I see that all the time. All these things are expensive repairs, which can simply be fixed by installing your heavy graphics cards, like this one here in this video, on a GPU riser. If anyone tells you otherwise, ignore it. Any experienced GPU repair technician will tell you the same. That bracket he's linked in the comments for his Amazon kick back is an option. But ultimately it is better to have the card installed vertically.

Thank god! I was really worried when i first noticed it especially considering i don't know too much about PCs. Thank you for this video!

I have a bunch of fans on the bottom of my case so I would probably be looking at that "upHere" style one. Not sure I'm into the "putting foreign objects into your case" style, but at least your Buddha has a function. When people post pictures of their builds and there are mini-figures of all 151 Pokemon standing on their GPU... 🤷

Greetings I recommend supporting the GPU a little closer to the middle like shown in most examples in the video. Putting a lot of pressure on the edge of the GPU can cause PCB warping and affect the memory modules on the board. Do not overthink it use the level app on your phone and try to get as close to 0 as possible 0.1 not really going to matter that much. Do not use excessive force and watch out for the opposite of GPU sag by pressing the GPU too much upwards you could damage some parts on the main board or the connector the same way sag would but you know opposite direction.

So a little closer to the middle like most examples here in the video I would suggest you take measurements and pick the halfway-ish point between the edge and the middle or maybe 2/3 of the way on some models. I have seen some very CHUNKY graphics cards and they do not play nice with their own weight let me tell you.

The 4080 series absolutely needs a bracket. It’s actually kind of frustrating. I spent a year trouble shooting my computer because my GPU wasn’t working properly. It ended up being the motherboard connection not being fully seated because the GPU was too heavy.

Literally less than five seconds before you brought out the Buddha I was looking around my room and saw one of my several mini Buddha statues and thought "OMG that would be PERFECT!" I just about crapped myself five seconds later LOLZ crazzzy

Cool love the Buddha. Also there are some cases with built in anti sag on the backside of the slots. The phanteks p600s has it, which I own. Very clean anti sag solution.

Yeah, but I have fans on the bottom - montech 95 pro and 7900 xtx red devil...

The only optionnseems to be the case mounted support bracket.
