I come from a tropical country with extreme humidity. Germany, on the other hand, is very dry, which caused all kinds of skin problems for me when I first moved here.
But after three years, I do have some tips: Use your eye-drop frequently, moisturize your skin to avoid itchiness and rash, drink a lot of water, and get yourself some vitamin D daily!!!

Normal condition of my hair is ‘dizzy Hagrid’ but when I travel to Asia I turn into ‘silky Rapunzel’😂

I feel that. I was born in Germany and when I flew for vacation to Vietnam in the past, the air was so moist, my skin problems nearly vanished there those few weeks but as soon as I came back to Germany I got dry skin problems again 😅

Humidifier is life changing! They make little portable ones so you just need a water bottle.

I'd never had dry skin in my life until I moved to Korea and experienced their winter - I actually thought I had some mystery allergy bc it was so bad... and that's how I learned that Ireland is, to my surprise, an incredibly humid country 👍🏻

Yes! I totally get that. People always think the „moist“ heat in east Asia is bad, but I’m from Austria and I always have problems with my skin and a raspy voice. I went to Thailand multiple times and I felt so much better. My skin never looked better.

I‘m from Germany and usually have dry skin but when I traveled to Vietnam I barely had to moisturize. It was so nice. Also my curly hair looked amazing every day… I want to go back 🥲

The opposite happened to me. Moved to Germany from Ukraine as an 8yo. The eastern parts of Ukraine tend to be very dry, especially in the summer it sometimes doesn't rain for weeks and there's Sandline dust everywhere on the streets.
I used to have nosebleeds on a weekly basis and horribly itchy skin and be sick a lot, because we lived between a coal mine and a metallurgical factory. I also had all kinds of allergies.
When we moved to Germany, that had a way higher base humidity in the air and more environment safety regulations, it all went away completely in the span of a few years. But even after a few months my skin became mostly normal and my nosebleeds became very rare and only happened, if I over-excerted myself and even my allergies went "poof". I still rent to have rather dry skin now, but it's super manageable with proper skin care.
It's crazy how much our experiences differ, depending on where we're from.
Related and mildly interesting: I've read that people, who grew up in first world countries from an age of earlier then 16 are mich more likely to develop MS. There are now trial drungs for it based on vitamin D. My brain thinks that maybe kids in first world countries staying indoors a lot more may have something to do with it. Like a chronic vitamin D defficiancy is much more serious then we thought or something.

On the flip side, when you are used to dry and move to a humid place, it feels like your entire body is turning to liquid and you sometimes cough just because the air is so thick that you think there's constantly snot in the back of your throat 😂

That was me in France. My skin actually cracked. Thanks to the kind African people who explained I could not shower with soap every day like I was still in the Caribbean. I needed to buy shower gel and put lotion on while the skin is still damp.

As a German I've never noticed that or thought about how difficult it can be to live in a place with different climate / weather

When she started with my nose bleeding all I could think of were the dramatic kdrama moments when they are sick and it all starts with the nosebleed 😅😂

My nose bleeds almost every day in the winter here so I'm used to it, but two days in Florence, Italy caused a 24-hr bleed and I just wanted to die.

I come from a drier country and the first week in Germany my hair kept getting flat and oily every day, I thought something was wrong with it, until I realized it was just a more humid country. Now I appreciate how much less conditioner I have to use in Germany and my hair is more used to it.
