I find that the difference and why Brian Cox brings so many in is because he isn't condescending and despite whatever differences there is in intelligence he talks to people on the same level as anyone else and explains things really well. That's why to me he stands out among the others

It's quite a rare combo that Brian Cox has. The knowledge, the ability to communicate it and the ability to deliver it well combined with likability.

Brian Cox has a wonderful and charismatic way of speaking. He also has a very good way of explaining his thoughts without leaving anyone behind. I only recently discovered him and I’m a fan.

The issue isn't the lack of willing physicists. It is physicists who are also experienced and capable television presenters, which Brian Cox definitely is. He makes it look easy, which it certainly is not and the pace of his delivery allows mere mortals to follow along without getting lost. His analogies, used to convey complex ideas in a simple way, are legendary. How are studios ever to find an abundance of such people?

Brian Cox appeals to a vast community because you can see and hear that he's genuine. He appears ego free. Unlike most people in his field. He's not condescending like "others." You can also say the same for Carl Sagan. "Others" could lead and learn by their examples. Brian is deservingly a Rock Star.

All Neil said was that he wishes that figures like himself and Cox aren’t so few and far between that he wants there to be an abundant of people who can thoroughly communicate in that manner with that open sense of interpretation and information.

Had no clue Brian Cox was a former rockstar or even that he was huge in the UK. I really like his method of explaining things and I think that’s why he’s caught on so well.

Speaking of Rock Stars, Brian May the guitarist for Queen is an astrophysicist.
Over the years he's been active in many space-based projects including work on stereoscopic imagery and zodiacal dust, co-founding Asteroid Day, and was attached to NASA's New Horizons Pluto mission in 2015 as part of the science team behind the historic fly-by.

I'm not a scientist. I'm just a fan of science. I am grateful for science communicators like Brian Cox. If all I had to choose from were those who spoke about science at levels far beyond my understanding, then I'd get bored pretty fast and just watch videos about UFOs.

Prof Brian Cox is a lovely fella and a great communicator, he explains complex topics simply, kids love him and listen to him. He's the Carl Sagan of our time.

The point Neil is making is that the world needs more people who are recognized for their studies.

I know he's dead, but I've never seen anyone be so infectious and inspiring in his genuine love and curiosity for the Universe than Richard Feynman. I'm fortunate to live in an age where his voice can still be heard online long after he has become star dust. I was born after he died and live in an entirely different continent that I wouldn't have heard of him at all even if I had been born earlier without Youtube. The internet, for all its horrors, nevertheless has become a repository for storied lives and amazing legacies such as that of Feynman's. People like that are who we need more of.

Personally, I prefer listening to Brian Cox than Tyson. Cox is so much more humble and never seems condescending towards others. Tyson loves to talk over people and be the centre of attention.

Brian Cox simply explains things better than anyone else, and is easy to comprehend the bigger universe

Prof Brian Cox is not the only one doing this - the UK is full of them.... e.g. Prof Margaret Ebunoluwa Aderin-Pocock.... look her up!
Not forgetting the TV show 'Sky at night' first broadcast on 24 April 1957 and still running!

Both Neil Degrasse Tyson AND Brian Cox AND jim al-khalili are wonderful science communicators. I’m a huge fan of all of them.

I agree with Degrasse Tyson that we need more people just like Brian Cox to communicate science in a clear, motivating and inspiring way.

Neil and Brian both have very nice voices, in different ways. I think this must be something of an asset because science communication takes a lot of talking to get through. It's easier to digest when the voice itself is pleasant to listen to.
