It’s the fact that the flowers are fake and that plastic is cheap that they’d take offense. A real flower frozen in time as a gift would be as appreciated.

"The gods envy us. They envy us because we're mortal, because any moment may be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we're doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again."

God's love is what gives life meaning.

I understand what he's saying but we sacrifice the flower to gift it as a symbol of love . Yet too often we don't sacrifice the few moments of ourselves to just spend time with someone or to even offer a smile to a stranger. Instead of sacrificing the flower for the sake of the bouquet, turn your life and the people in it into a garden that grows and blooms throughout your life.

Eternal life? You would eventually get tired of knowing that you can't die.
It would go from a blessing to a curse.

If the flowers are forgotten by everyone because they're all dead, then the flowers might as well have never existed to begin with. Meaning only has value when it has someone to apply it.

The hardest thing to get over in life is loss. You wanna live forever, prepare to lose everything over and over again. You will eventually become numb to loss, which will make everything feel meaningless. Meaning in life is more important than short-term happiness or sorrow.

That last sentence is the very pronciple of optimistic nihilism. Yeah, some say humans are but a speck of dust in the grand scheme of the Universe. But that allows us to live life to the fullest. The very fact that nobody will notice our legacy for very long is the very gift that allows us to life our lives the way we wish.

Get a dozen real flowers, replace ONE with a real looking fake.

If everyone lived forever in a perfect world I would love that. Life has Meaning. Death doesn't because it's gone. A fake flower is just that it's fake. We appreciate the real thing more because it's real not a fake. So of if people could live forever on a perfect earth then that would be amazing. Life does not lose meaning because there is no death if anything there is so much more to live for in a huge world that nun of us has truly got to experience.

living forever as the same age or living forever continuously getting worse and worse? being 200 unable to die with the health of someone who would be 200 would suck.
