I'm pretty sure this legend was on the show alone. I've followed this guy for quite a few years. Always has the best bushcraft content hands down

Only thing tho, Environmental pollutants, harmful bacteria, and parasites can contaminate rainwater, and drinking it can make you sick. Boiling, filtering, and chemically treating rainwater can help make it safer for human consumption

This is a really nice idea actually, just make sure the log is already kind of dry before using it to catch and store water, don't want the inside to be already rotting and full of fungus and other critters. The water should be good for a day or two but make sure to drain it before it gets stanky or that stuff is gonna grow faster the next time it fills up.

Wouldnt it be good idea to get the log out of the woods and put it in the open? Or make a kind of ramp to catch more water somehow. Maybe with a tarp or leaves.

You have to be careful with rain water. Look up PFAS or "forever chemicals". The official story is that they are chemicals used heavily in commercial and industrial products for their water and oil resistant properties as well as their heat resistance and durability, hence the nickname "forever chemicals".

The chemicals enter the atmosphere by way of atmospheric deposition. When particles or vapors containing PFAS are released into the atmosphere via industrial emissions, waste incineration or simply from products that uses these chemicals they do not break down due to their durability and instead return to the earth through rain water.

This rain contaminates groundwater surface water and soil. It gets into our food as well, everything from plants to fish and because of its durability it can travel long distances before it eventually rains down.

Here are some of the side effects of these chemicals I got from the internet:

PFAS, or "forever chemicals, " have raised concerns due to their potential adverse effects on human health. The following are some of the known or suspected impacts of PFAS exposure:

1. Persistence in the body: PFAS compounds can accumulate in the human body over time, as they are not easily eliminated. Some studies have detected PFAS in blood, breast milk, and other body tissues.

2. Health effects: Certain PFAS have been associated with various health issues, although the extent of their impact is still being studied. These effects may include:

- Increased cholesterol levels: Some PFAS have been linked to elevated levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, which can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

- Hormonal disruption: Some PFAS compounds may interfere with the endocrine system, potentially affecting hormone regulation and reproductive health.

- Immune system effects: There is evidence to suggest that PFAS exposure may weaken the immune system and reduce the effectiveness of vaccines.

- Increased cancer risk: Certain PFAS, such as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), have been classified as potential or probable carcinogens based on animal studies and some limited human evidence.

3. Developmental and reproductive concerns: Prenatal exposure to PFAS has been associated with potential adverse effects on fetal development, including low birth weight, delayed growth, and effects on the immune system. Some studies have also suggested a link between PFAS exposure and reduced fertility or complications during pregnancy.

That logs bottom doesn’t seem like it would hold any water with all the cracks and openings imo

WTF?! If you have clay, you can sculpt a pot. Fire it over a campfire. Then use it to boil, purify, and store your water.

My question is does the clay affect the purity level of it?
