Is Rainwater Safe to Drink?

Is rainwater safe to drink? It may seem like a silly question, but I'd argue it's a good one. Today I collect some rainwater. I also harvest rainwater. Basically, I make a rainwater collection system. Is it safe to drink rainwater? Is rainwater healthy to drink, or is it good to drink. I attempt to answer these questions and answer what happens when you drink rainwater. Keep in mind that if you were to try this yourself, I'd recommend a rainwater filtration system or some way of making it safer to drink. In an emergency, however, this would be one of your best options.

I drink rain water every day, it’s the only water source we have in my house

Okay so rain water directly collected from the sky can absorb whatever pollutants are in the air so shouldn’t we be able to just drink it anyway because we would be breathing that same air pollution on a daily basis ??

As long as it has been raining heavy for a while, and most of the airborne dust and pollution, etc, has been brought down and cleared, before catching it for drinking, cooking, etc. If you are gonna store it, then first boil it. Have drunk lots of rainwater captured mid-storm, and am still here. Have drunk from lots of fast flowing streams (not those not in or near built up areas or farms) and am still here.

tap water might've been an interesting comparison, assuming you're somewhere where tap water is considered 'safe to drink' . also doesn't every raindrop need a bit of something solid in the middle to act as a nucleation site for its condensing?

I love the simplicity of your videos 👍

It would have been better if you possibly put labels on them for the gutter water and open air as you can't follow with the "this" and "that" water

You should filter it.bird poop can get in there from the roof. Then you might want to boil it

I just get excited about drinking rainwater even though it's scary to me. It feels heavenly to me. 😌 Your house looks like a lab to me.

I collect rainwater in Florida. Not from the gutter though. Straight from the sky. PH was perfect and PPM was only four.
