The Knife Guy is def my favorite series on your channel brotha, and its cool to use to show non-knife people different points. Thank you for all you give us Brotha.

Barbara Walters once asked Jerry Seinfeld how many Porsches he needed. His reply was "Need? I don't NEED any of them." I love that answer. I only need one knife, but the 44 others bring me joy. One can go too far with any hobby, but I haven't crossed that line and this hobby and community make me happy. That's all the justification I need.

Great ramble as always bud. Have been enjoying all of these. Well presented and yes, we all change, awesome to remind us of that.

I agree. Preferences do evolve with time, knowledge and experience. To each his own, whatever works for you and makes you happy.

I relate a lot to when you were talking about that big ass recon lol I used to be super into the overly tactical huge folders (mostly Cold Steel and early ZT stuff) when I was a teenager but now I've moved to more utilitarian blades like Benchmades and Spydercos (I absolutely love my Manix 2, especially with that Ti ball bearing cage) but now I see my tastes and wants drifting to the much more premium things like Olamic cutlery, Grimsmo Knives, and Holt Bladeworks to name a few. Unfortunately for me, I dont have the financial support at the moment to get much of anything above $300 so I guess I'll still keep drooling over pictures of all my potential excaliburs lol

I wish I could handle all those cool knives. Unfortunately I cannot so I have to do it through others such as yourself. It is interesting. I do agree your ideal will change from time to time as you get to handle different knives. Enjoy the series and am glad I ordered stickers they are very cool.

You are right Bro. Sometimes I feel like stop buying new knives and sometimes I feel like a massive down size my collection. But then I like my collect to much to do it now. Last year was existing in terms of sprint run of the same model but nothing much in terms of new design.

I think it’s none of us are wrong unless you think that all knives should be illegal

Been wondering here lately, at what point does a knife stop being a dependable tool. I understand the benefit of the satisfaction factor in acquiring a perfectly functioning, made of the most gorgeous material, piece of art, but at what point, and price range is it no longer designed for the rigors of a knife?I'm exactly twice your age, 64, and have been a warrior, hunter, camper, construction worker, and collector seems every man I've been has called for a useable blade, and desired a ultimate safe queen, ( for lack of a better term).but I know that some of the more expensive safe queens would not hold up to what some of the less expensive users could. Maybe a good topic for a knife guy episode....maybe not. Thanks again for your reviews!

As far as why do you need a Hinderer... you don't. It's not a need, it's a want and that's totally fine. Just like it's totally fine for some one to want really nice shoes or jewelry or a nice watch or a fancy car or expensive clothes etc. It's your money and if it brings you joy and isn't hurting anyone, then go for it. Considering how much those sorts of things cost, it's really not that bad.

I'm looking at the XM-18 3.5" skinny no choil slicer and UGGGGH (*heavy breathing*) it's probably more practical than the harpoon spanto I already have. Lighter but same essential dimensions so theoretically I might actually carry it?

great topic, still to cheap to get me a custom hinderer

I'm lucky, i live in the UK so I'll never get anything close to a grail and finish collecting because they're very difficult to buy if not impossible :(
