There's a video of an old man talking about his days as a British Commando during WWII. He said that that stab the throat and cut out through the front method is the best way of killing a sentry. Very legit.

Don't forget that many moves in the game rely on luck!
When you break or cut the leg, you don't know how they'll fall. They may scream like crazy or empty their magazine. That's the very opposite of a stealth kill...

Straight out from Fairbairn Syke training program. An old British commando said when you execute enemies, you don't slit the throat like basic training program but rather stab through the neck and punch it forward like Logan said. "You rip out alot more" he said

I like how the military uniform guy always cringes when a knife comes even remotely close to his face/neck area. That's the perfect mentality, anything can happen and it's better to be prepared at all times.
