It's also interesting that our definition of 'serious' is so divergent but the hobby contains us both. I, for one, hate black or grey knives because I look at them and think "That thing will just vanish in anything but full sunlight if it is misplaced, and then it is useless to me". But you absolutely can get a Microtech or Spyderco or Benchmade whatever in a variety of bright colors. I'm not in a ninja fight often enough for high viz to ever be a negative. My favorite colors are orange, pink and teal because they pop out in any environment.

Your right, some are coming out with knives with playful scales look at the hinderers with the warhawk (?) Scales and Northern knives has the space man . I'm all for the art on a usable knife .

Love the song MC! My collecting has become more "serious" as of late. I received a Boker Mermaid for Christmas. It is terrific and it makes me smile every time I look at it. It's in my knife roll surrounded by way more expensive knives just to make me smile. Everyone NEEDS a rediculous knife in their collection! Good vid sir!

I hope the success/popularity of the Dessert Warrior inspires other companies that release lots of different colors/variants of the same knife to release some candy/dessert themed products. it seems like MIcrotech could go there with the ultratechs, maybe benchmade through the custom shop.

I’ve always had cheap knives and was going to make my first “significant knife” purchase tomorrow, significant meaning $50 and up in price. I was wondering if a flipper knife or an auto would be the better option? I’ve got a $5 cheap auto from the local fishing store and had to throw a pair of shorts away due to an accidental opening in the pocket cutting the leg of it. Would I need to worry about that with an auto over $50 or is there a difference? If I were to get a flipper I’d want one that is easy to snap open quickly, I’ve been eyeballing the Civivi Elementum and the Kershaw Natrix.

I have a Snake Eye Extreme she bought me from Amazon lol. 8CR14MOV and ball bearing pivot. It looks and feels awful but the action is fantastic and it's a tank. I use it around the house as a beater knife and it's ok.

My “ridiculous” knife isn’t necessarily ridiculous, just a cheap Tac Force that was a gift to me from a non-knife person but it’s engraved and is a higher end TacForce that was a gift of love, so it’s not bad. I’m fond of it
