My alternative was to flip both sides over. We then get 3 * [3^a/3^3a] = 1/3
3^(a+2) / 3^3a = 1
3^(2-2a) = 1
The bracketed term must be zero, so a=1.

mk I did that a bit differently.. And somehow it was both faster and simpler:

everything on the left is with the power of a. shift the A to the right so it's 3*3*3 / 3+3+3 = 3 to the a power.
then math the left side
27/9 = 3 to the a power
3 = 3 to the a power
1=a

Somewhere I think I got lucky on this one
