Overwhelmed with calisthenics exercise options?

When in doubt, always focus on strengthening the fundamentals. Whether you’re beginner or advanced, you’ll never outgrow working on the basics; you’ll simply be doing different variations.

One of the calisthenics fundamentals are dips. Here are a few variations:

1. Tricep Dips/Bench Dips
2. Jumping Dips/Negative Dips (go slow on the way down)
3. Regular Dip
4. Forward Lean Dip - Bonus points if you can stay in a lean at the top
5. Korean Dip (not my best performance, check out my “Five Exercises you Haven’t Heard of” for a better demo)
6. Walking Dips
7. Straight Bar Dips (I prefer to do these weighted)
8. Russian Dip

As you get stronger, move up to a more challenging dip variation to continue to see gains (progressive overload). One day, your original “workout” will become your warm-up, and you’ll be so damn proud of yourself.

Have you tried those dips with your hands turned inward, elbows out?

I have seen those used by Vince Gironda, for triceps. Also very handy for those workers that get out from sewers.

The upper arm should rest on the bar in russian dips not the elbows.
