Imho the only time algae is a problem is when it grows on your plants and blocks out their light, but if you don't have any plants then algae is definitely helpful in filling a similar role

My 55 gl matured and a lush algae culture grew on back for years 💜💜💜💜 for grazing

Absolute fact's!!! I agree 💯... Here's the thing about algae people don't realize... Whatever type of algae that your aquarium keeps producing is the "eco system" that the aquarium is trying to create over time... It's obviously not that good looking but over time by purposely growing it over time can create a beautiful substrate and a place for your fish to forage through... I'm currently working on a aquarium now by letting it grow all over my river rock and only cleaning it off of the glass... Definitely going to post a video once it gets to where I want it to... And it's natural so you never need to clean the bottom especially if you add shrimp

Can you do a video on how to grow green algae? I only seem to be able to grow brown algae in my hap tank.

The one algae I have a problem with is a really stiff-fibrous green hair-like algae. It's in a clump of Java fern. I can pull out wads of the stuff. It almost feels like steel wool. The algae eaters and shrimp don't seem to touch it. I've tried treating with hydrogen peroxide. It's a tough one.

Love the short videos, thanks for making us feel better about our algae, it does actually look good for the most part, except on the front of the tank 😂

Totally agree. Too much algae is ugly, and indicates poor water quality, too. But a certain amount is good for water quality, and is aesthetically pleasing.

Hi, I’ve set up a 90 gallon tank and I plan to put an Oscar in there but I want one or possibly two (if there small enough) fish that will work in with the Oscar. I feel like I’ve watched every video there is on Oscar tank mates and nothing is really sparking my mind. I was wondering, seeing as you generally respond to a lot of your comments, if you’d be willing to give me a few suggestions on what to put in the tank. I’m looking for something that looks kind of tropical and would fit in with my river-scaped tank. Thank you for any help you can provide and if you can’t that’s fine too! I honestly feel like I’ve seen every resource on Oscar tank mates multiple times and just can’t decide 😂.
P.S. I have a large pebble substrate so I don’t think any sort of geophagus or firemouths would work.

I can’t get algae to grow to save my life. I want green algae on the rocks so bad. But it just won’t grow
