Oh woh! When you live in rural Australia and have to get through up to five gates on your own property, to get between the road and your house, the seat belt alarm makes you want to take to it with a sledge hammer but now I know how to disable that. That for me is very exciting. This is THE best thing I have learned from watching these videos. Thank you!

The ability to put the key fob into sleep mode seems like a hidden feature. That, combined with the unlock code seem like it would be a handy feature if you wanted to go on a hike or canoe trip or something and wanted to lock the key fob inside the car and avoid risking losing your keys out on the trail.

Thank you buddy! I just bought a fully loaded 2022 Touring XT....and I'm determined to learn all I can about the vehicle. REALLY APPRECIATE it

You made my Subaru experience SO much better with the seatbelt alarm tip!! I wear my seatbelt, but my driveway is 1/3 mile long and I stop to get the mail at the end, and would have to buckle to avoid the alarm. No more!! Best tip EVER!! Thank you!!!!

I live on a ranch & have a 2 mile driveway & get in & out many times to open gates. Not having to listen to the chime because I don't have the seat belt on is a blessing!
I guess I could buckle the seat belt & then get in, in this case.

Another little feature: quick cargo cover retraction. When the cover is pulled across and in place, give the leading edge (aka the "flappy part") a little slap downwards - the cover will partially retract. Super handy when you have items to load.

You can defeat the start/stop by simply turning the wheel 1/8 to 1/4 turn as you stop. With time you’ll learn to “feel” when the steering pump is engaged. That’s far enough to keep the engine running while you’re in a line at the drive through or simply at a stop. Once you start to roll, lightly hold the steering wheels and the front wheels will start to head straight again.

Omg! THANK YOU!! All of it is excellent to know... but the seat belt alarm... that's gold! I always wear it but can be slow to get it on and I usually unbuckle on my street out of habit and it always ruins my music. Also, if I put my groceries in the front seat it goes off and I HATE it. Lol. Thanks again!!

This video was most helpful and most awesome. Worked exactly as described. The rubber mat was the problem. Thank you

Subaru software update in early Jan '21 adds start-stop icon to infotainment interface. turning start-stop off or on is now easy.

1. Easier way to turn off start stop:
Press the little car on bottom left of main screen, go to Other tab, then toggle off. I would love to see a permanent off (yes I understand I'm burning more gas and more emmisiton.)
-From the main little car screen you can also turn on AVH very helpful when at drive though or long light.

2. I put my key fob in sleep mode and lock it in the car all the time when I go to the beach. Then use the hidden pin to get back in the car.

Thanks for that last bonus hack. My 2019 Crosstrek drives me wacko for that short time I don’t have my seatbelt on. 👍🏼

I think Subaru has some awesome tech but as someone who just bought one of these cars in July, it would have been nice for the dealer to let me in on it. Appreciate this video very much!

A weird feature I noticed on mine is when you lock out the windows from rolling down (passenger and rear seat) the light actually turns off on those door controls. I thought it was a cool detail, but you don't notice it until night driving.

After a software update of my 2020 outback, there is a widget on the homescreen to disable the auto start! I was soo happy about it! So easy to just touch it when you get in!

Is there anyway to leave the AVH (auto vehicle hold) permanently on. I use this every time I drive, but it shuts off when the ignition is turned off and must be manually turned on every time in drive.

😁nice tricks...here one more! To stop the Engine from shutting down @Stops😳 Press /activate the Rear (defroster!) Works Temporary 15min, without all those long steps...Just press once, no distractions..Warning in summer you might want to do long way😁glass/mirrors will warm up😂Happy Travels..👍and if you have Ventilated seats..just long press to turn off, instead of 3times😁

you have totally missed the point of the pin code. It is so you can lock the key in the car, while you go off on your wilderness adventure, without fear of breaking your very costly electronic key fob.
