As a pilot I can confidently say the first one is not true.

The autopilot is usually engaged right after takeoff and disengaged shortly before landing, and neither are being announced.
Flying 10 hours without autopilot would be torture.

I did some research on the phrase:
the term "george" is a general nickname for the autopilot system (I had never heard that before), although the term is outdated and is not commonly used nowadays.

Even if some pilots may still use the term, it is definitely not announced to passengers.

Code Purple: missing adult

Code Green: Security situation

Code grey: disaster

Code black: Bomb threat
