Omg Alex 😱 whom taught you to use a torque wrench?? “Turn till you here the click” (@ 5:50) but you carry on past the click considerably each and every time and I’ve noticed this before in another video but wast sure then and just can’t remember which. Stop 🛑 as soon as it click man

At 5:30 the BB torque required is stated as 35-45 Nm. The torque tool used is the Park Tool TW-5.2. This torque tool provides a maximum torque of 14 Nm.

The funny thing is that I know how to do it, but I still watch it.

yes, it helped, very reassuring that its a relatively simple task that can be accomplished correctly by the average person

Only the drive side fitting was shown in any detail. The non drive side fitting is important too, especially not overtightening the preload on a left Shimano crank. Also it's best to have the chain removed, so that you can check the cranks spin freely, more.difficult to do when the chain is on.

"However in the last few years we've seen brands start to move back to threaded bottom bracket" because they were unable to manufacture proper frames...

From what I saw the threaded is the best, not just for using but definitely in maintenance and installing, the worst is the cartridge, I really don’t know why they still making it, the cartridge is like one time installation and no returning back, they won’t open and they get jammed quickly, but the threaded is easy to handle easy to fix, I hope and I wish that all the bikes will become threaded!!

Got to ask why you kept tightening after the torque wrench clicked? Especially on the drive side, it appeared that your overtorqued the BB.

Alex should go to learn from Jon (former GCN presenter) or Doddy from GMBN how to service bikes...

Should you also apply grease to the crank before refitting?

Why did Trek and Cannondale push creaky direct-fits / press-fits for so many years?

Nice. Could you do a video removing and reinstalling a PF30 adapter to BSA for Shimano please? I thought my BB was threaded until I tried to remove, had to buy the Park Tool tap tool to remove, but not 100% on installation process for new bb cups - do you press with bb cups installed or adapter first and then BB cups. Cheers, P

I hate to complain, but I'm going to 😉
If wanted to learn how to change a bottom bracket, I'd watch the Jon Cannings version of the video.
Or any of his videos over the current crop of GCN Tech presenters efforts.
The current versions have too many mistakes or miss out important information. i.e. tightening up the crank evenly, and to a torque value.
Do it properly or don't bother. Or better still, bring back Jon.

Surely threadlocker would be better on the non drive side to guarantee it will not undo by itself?

Is that a park tool bbt 59.2 for the italian thread bb cup ?
