Thank you. I wasn’t sure the actual purpose of the trim ring and it was making me hesitant to install. Your video was the first of the many I watched, which actually explained it.

Thank you! That was perfect! I bought a generic shark it double 3/8 and you video showed me how to install it as well as what the orange plastic (removal tool) was for.❤

Thanks man… Our temps last night were -8 and had a pipe burst in my basement and with no plumbing experience whatsoever, I feel confident I can replace the part with one of these

That trim ring also doubles as a removal tool.

what if my copper is short and looks like it will break? will I be able to still pull on the last shark bite to replace it or will I risk water pressure leakage during the pull?

Your video is one of the only that mentions the trim ring. I wasn’t sure if it was for shipping, a removal tool, meant to be left on to install then removed or what!

On the shakbite packages it says on the labels to remove the plastic insert when using the sharkbite on copper. The plastic insert is for PEX

Hi, question. I had to replace my shutoff valve. When I took of the old compression sleeve, new one didn't fit because the old ring made the pipe a bit thinner. So I googled and found Sharkbite shutoff valve and installed. My question is, after installed, if I leave it just as is then it's no problem, no leak. But if I grab it and twist then water is coming out. Is this normal?

That was CPVC not PVC. There IS a difference.
Also., the insert in the Sharkbite should be removed. Although not mandatory, it's just something else to help constrict the flow of water. It's only needed when using PEX.

Sharkbite makes non-push on. (threaded) valves now but the quality is very poor. I just installed two today and both of them leak at the shaft stem. Very dissappointing. Not only do they leak at the valve stem, there are only 2 threads to engage with your plumbing.
