It always should've been canon. Excellent stories!

The old republic era wouldn’t be such a mystery if Disney hadn’t removed legends from canon. It’d also help if they could stop actively screwing with their own established canon. Tbh, they’d have a more cohesive canon if they had kept legends, and made everything after the main trilogy non-canon.

It's weird how quickly people seem to forget the old hierarchy of what counts, and what doesn't. Films > TV > everything else. And "everything else" was completely ignored. (In full disclosure, I was a contract artist working on Star Wars tabletop games in the early 00s, and had many awkward conversations with the Lucas reps)

The books, the video games, the West End RPG, the comics, NONE of that had any effect or impact on the films. And Lucasfilm was very open about being perfectly happy to contradict them whenever they felt like. The EU didn't matter. It never did.

Getting to see characters and references to the old Legends stuff NOW, is more than we ever got under Lucasfilm.

I do not understand how people are still complaining about this. The old guard did not care at all about the extended universe, and Filoni actually does.

Bane and Revan were both re-canonized by the clone wars and several moments in novels, with the Old Republic itself being confirmed by Pre Visla's comment on the fall of the old republic

Darth Bane is canon, therefore Revan is canon, therefore KOTOR is Canon.

Star Wars games were never canon. I worked for Lucas for a decade (before they sold to Disney).

It was the movies and the radio drama at that time. This was before the animated content came out.

The holiday special didn’t count.
Novels and comics didn’t count.
None of the video games counted.

Perfectly fine to reference non canon stuff (though Lucas hated the star wars special with a passion). But, if you counter canon in a licensed product the Lucas ranch will step in and stop it. You can counter anything that isn’t canon (or, at least it’s perfectly possible).

So we're just going to ignore Luke's new jedi order like it didn't happen? They should've just used legends material, but Darth Kenedy had to be all, "there was no reference material 🤡". The current state of Star Wars saddens me.

This is not a time line is branding the first 3 "eras" take place in the expanse of 25 000+ years the later five are 3000 years at most, of those the last 4 "eras" combined are just 50 years

it's either Canon again or they're playing on redoing it, who knows.
