I’ll say this, if Disney and Lucasfilm were actually serious about getting Star Wars back to what it used to be they’d one, get good choreography for lightsabers back, two get good film directors and visuals back, and three put all that into making a Old republic trilogy starring some prominent Jedi figure protagonist (not sure who) and Darth Malgus being a Sith General as the antagonist.

For the record: the High republic books/comics are split into 3 phases: with Phase 2 being set about 300 years before phases 1/3 and it’s basically its own thing distinct from the rest of the books/comics (thats the era where it’s mostly peaceful Jedi exploring the galaxy). Phases 1/3 are when the Nihil attack and basically wage the first galactic war since the sith wars, with them taking over large portions of space and waging anti Jedi terrorist attacks. This crisis allowed the Jedi council to pass the “Guardian protocols”, a series of wartime decelerations that force the Jedi to return to coruscant and abandon the other temples across the outer rim. The protocols also standardised Padawan training & the Jedi trials, decreased the age that younglings go on the gathering and forbidding jedi to work alone. Basically forcing the Jedi order into the structure that it has in the prequels (it’s also why the Jedi locked up Dagan gera in Star Wars Jedi survivor).

Personally i think this demonstrates why these “Star Wars eras” are mostly just for Disneys marketing purposes and aren’t representative of the actual stories. Disney calls 500 years of Star Wars history “the high republic” despite the fact that the writers, artists and creatives at lucasfilm have created new eras that tell distinct stories, stuff that Disney just lumps together as 1 thing. The books set 400 years before the phantom menace, the books set 200 years before the phantom menace, the Acolyte tv show and the Dooku prequel book set 50 years before the phantom menace are all classed as “High republic”. But they’re all set in distinct time periods for the Jedi and the galaxy
