The Star Wars Expanded Universe (EU) was a collection of novels, comics, video games, animated series, the Star Wars Holiday Special, TV movies, radio dramas, roleplay games, reference books, magazine issues and HoloNet reports from 1976 until 2014 so beloved and well-respected it could use the existing lore of the Star Wars Universe to create new stories and characters. It had such a deep knowledge of the Star Wars Universe it could keep the fans it cared about from leaving the franchise".

EU fan: "The Star Wars Expanded Universe is a pathway to many stories some would consider non-canonical. It became so big and expansive the only thing it was afraid of was being decanonized by someone else in charge, which eventually, of course, it did. Unfortunately, it taught their new owner Disney everything it knew, then they killed it on April 25, 2014. Ironic, the Clone Wars could still be canon but not the Expanded Universe".
New fan: "Is it possible to learn these stories?".
EU fan: "Not from Disney".
