This is the method I remember being taught as a young girl. We did it completely by hand. Nothing was done by machine. Your video is the only one I have been able to find that shows the exact way it was done in my youth. All the others use machine stitching in some way. That is why I am so happy to find your video. There are a couple of things that are different from the way I learned in my youth. We did not trim the tiny window square, as you do, into a diamond shape. We simply squeezed the square in there. Also, we did not baste that piece onto the background. I think the basting is a good idea! This is such a joy to watch. You do exquisite work!

Handy Mum, many years ago, I became enthralled with the cathedral windows process and wanted to make a spread for my bed or at least a throw; no batting needed. Your work is lovely and brought back memories of the chatelaine I made that was essentially a pin cushion with tape measure and small scissors and worn around my neck so that those were always with me and I did not need to go searching. Thank you for sharing your beautiful projects. The serene settings you provide at the beginning are very helpful and invite your viewers to relax for awhile and enjoy being peaceful.
